Job Description Summary
Engine Test Enabling Hardware (ETEH) is a group of Mechanical/Aerospace Engineers/Specialists whose mission is to provide engineering services for design and build-up of mechanical test systems in support of the engineering initiatives. ETEH integrates the test article to the test cell while striving to exceed customer expectations. This group provides mechanical engineering support to all of GE Aviation’s domestic, international, development engine, production engine, and engine services. The role will focus on working on projects that require mechanical specialist acumen within the ETEH group.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include several disciplines within the mechanical engineering domain expertise for multiple product lines in GE Aviation. Particularly Design and manufacturing of enabling hardware for engine missions.
+ The engineer may interact with Test Facilities Engineering, Instrumentation, Assembly, Test Operations, Peebles T.E.H., Test engineering and Evaluation Engineering to achieve success on engine or other related component testing.
+ Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
+ Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrated with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
+ Reviews and updates Design Operating Practices to enhance the processes within the TSE department.
+ Participates in reviews with Chief Engineers, local maintenance groups, tradesmen, DMO or Outside vendors to ensure manufacturability of designed components.
+ Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
+ Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Leads projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
+ Serves as a mentor to less experienced engineers.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical design
+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Characteristics
+ Master's degree
+ Experience with turboshaft engine test hardware
+ Experience with high temperature bleed systems
+ Experience on the following type of engineering analysis: Linear and non-linear analyses, Thermal analyses (permanent + transient); Heat Transfer; Dynamic analyses; Advanced skills in material mechanics (vibration, fatigue, creep); Fluid Flow
+ Demonstrate GE Leadership behaviors where the engineer acts with humility, leads with transparency and delivers with focus always with unyielding integrity.
+ Previous Experience in Test Enabling Hardware design and manufacturing.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
+ Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
+ Working knowledge of Teamcenter, Vismockup, NX.
+ Experience working with PDE designers (Internal or External) to design concepts, models, assemblies and deliver drawings for manufacturing.
