    Job Summary

    The Research Area Specialist Intermediate will support 2 federal grants ( Store Safely, a CDC-funded R01 grant, and YST Detroit, a NIMH-funded R34 grant) that aim to implement and evaluate multiple public health approaches to suicide prevention. The Research Area Specialist Intermediate is responsible for the day-to-day operations of each project, ensuring that project deliverables are achieved on time and meet best practice standards. This position is located in Ann Arbor with hybrid options available.

    Responsibilities*

    + Communicates regularly with PI and Lab Manager.

    + "Holds" project details and sets project priorities in collaboration with PI, Lab Manager, community partners, & sponsor.

    + Maintains strong working relationships and excellent communication with all project partners.

    + Oversees data collection and participant tracking with oversight by PI, Lab Manager, and Data Manager, including developing effective implementation and recruitment strategies.

    + Maintains all required regulatory documents.

    + Works with Pl and Lab Manager to delegate tasks and provide project supervision to RA(s) and undergraduate research staff/volunteers, ensuring a positive learning environment for junior staff.

    + Responsible for quarterly and annual reporting for each project with support from the Pl and Lab Manager.

    + Opportunities to participate in grant writing and scholarly dissemination projects are available.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's Degree and 4-5 years of experience in a related field (social work, psychology, public health, etc.)

    + Be able to work independently but also within a collaborative team environment

    + Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, motivation, initiative, and problem-solving abilities

    + Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills as well as a high level of attention to detail

    + Be able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines

    + Possess good knowledge with standard computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google, Adobe)

    + Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with community partners

    Desired Qualifications*

    Preferred candidates will have a masters degree and relevant research or public health/program evaluation experience. Experience with data collection software (Qualtrics, REDCap) is preferred.

     

    Work Schedule

     

    This position is full time, Monday-Friday.

    This position is located at Rachel Upjohn Building (Ann arbor, MI) with hybrid options available.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.     Additional Information

    **This is a term-limited, grant-funded regular appointment.** Funds are assured through September 2026.At the end of the stated term, if funds are not are not available, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

     

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

     

    In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
