    Job Summary

    The Aging and Auditory Perception Lab (A2P Lab) is seeking a research lab specialist to study mechanisms of auditory perception across the adult lifespan. The primary responsibility is to assist with research projects related to sound neural encoding and perception in people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) who are positive for biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

    Responsibilities*

    Duties include recruitment, data collection, and data analysis, as well as communicating study results to scientific audiences and writing manuscripts for publication. The candidate will be expected to supervise research assistants and other support personnel in experimental procedures and use of lab equipment, as well as lead the coordination of recruitment of participants through the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. They will also be expected to provide significant input in the design and implementation of experiments, as well as coordinate the processing and analysis of data. Job candidates should have a strong interest in understanding mechanisms of sound encoding in healthy aging. Further duties include maintenance of lab equipment and other general tasks that come with being part of an active research lab. The A2P Lab is part of the Kresge Hearing Research Institute (KHRI) at the University of Michigan (U-M), Ann Arbor. The research lab specialist will participate in a highly collaborative environment within and outside of the KHRI at U-M, with the potential for strong ties with the neuroscience and clinical audiology departments at U-M as well as the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center (https://medresearch.umich.edu/labs-departments/centers/madc) .KHRI and the broader neuroscience community at U-M provide a world-class research environment. The A2P Lab believes that a supportive and diverse lab environment is key to promoting individual and team success.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Master's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Speech-Language Hearing Sciences, or a related field.

    + At least 5 years of work experience in neuroscience research or related field.

    + Prior experience with EEG data collection and analysis.

    + Self-motivated with a strong interest in auditory neuroscience and/or psychoacoustics.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Strong programming skills in MATLAB or other scientific computing language.

    + Desire to continue to develop data analysis and scientific writing skills.

    + Prior experience with patient populations and clinical data collection.

    Additional Information

     

    This is not a remote position; it will be onsite work only.

     

    Background Screening
