    Summary:

    Meta Reality Labs supports its goal of connecting the world by building various products, including Reality Labs devices. Many of these products are custom designed for our requirements and integrate advanced technologies. We are seeking a Prototype Engineer/Mold designer and to join our state-of-the-art mechanical prototyping facility.This role will be responsible for designing and producing molds using 3D printed and machined tools, DFAM, automation of mold making processes, working with designer/engineers to debug designs, assembly work, and so on. Our products utilize a variety of materials ( plastics, hard metals and silicones) and processes, offering continuous challenges to grow your skills.The prototyping facility includes advanced 3D Printers, 5-axis and 3-axis CNC machine tools, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, Injection molding and manual machine tools. The Prototype Engineer is responsible for the safe setup, operation, and maintenance of this equipment, including tooling, fixture specification and procurement. This position will work closely with the mechanical engineering team to solve design and manufacturing issues. We move fast and are looking for a person who is excited to find the fastest, most efficient ways to go from CAD models to finished parts.

    Required Skills:

    Prototyping Engineer - Casting and Molding Responsibilities:

    1. CAD design of 3D printed/injection molds

    2. Automation of internal niche processes

    3. 3D printer/Injection mold machine setup, operation and maintenance

    4. Interact with design engineers on part functionality, advise on the part suitability for production

    5. Clear communication of timelines and expectations to other groups within Meta

    6. Improve the systems and tools we rely on via continuous improvement

    7. Responsible for part quality and inspection

    8. Ensuring that machines are properly maintained, that material supplies are adequate and that the shop is operated in a safe and workmanlike manner

    Minimum Qualifications:

    9. 5+ years of experience in a prototyping environment with advanced 3D printers, injection molding systems and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools

    10. Hands on experience running industrial 3D printers

    11. Skills in Computer-Aided Design software (Autodesk Fusion, Siemens NX, Solidworks, Rhino, Python, Grasshopper, Cimatron, Magics, etc.)

    12. Skilled in prototyping of complex electro-mechanical assemblies and familiar with typical shop tools

    13. Computer skills and knowledge to pick-up new software quickly and efficiently. Focus around software used in designing and building things

    14. Proven experience of proactively identifying, scoping and implementing novel solutions in the rapid prototyping space

    15. Bachelors degree in relevant design/engineering field

    16. Experience in SW Eng and coding basics with a manufacturing and automation focus

    17. Ability to work in team environment and manage technicians on day to day responsibilities

    18. Experience taking products from concept through to functional prototype or production

    19. Exposure to code management and software engineering basics

    20. Experience with other technologies used in a modern digital prototyping lab, including CNC, laser cutting, injection molding, EDM and water jet

    21. Experience using 3D printing in a regulated industries such as consumer products, automotive, aerospace or medical

    22. Broad experience in 3D printing technologies and applications

    Public Compensation:

    $111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
