Summary:

The Reality Labs (RL) Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including computer vision, graphics, body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence. The Virtual Humans team in Sausalito, CA works on cutting-edge research and development focusing on virtual people and presence. We envision a world where people connect across vast distances so our roles focus on full body capture and reconstruction. We are currently seeking innovative interns with a passion for rendering and innovative 3D representations and capture technologies.Research Topics:* Text, image and video generative models* Geometry reconstruction* Inverse Graphics* Facial Capture and animationOur internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Required Skills:

Research Scientist Intern, Generative AI Digital Characters (PhD) Responsibilities:

1. Design and implementation of prototypes with the emphasis on quality and speed of execution

2. Proposal and execution of experiments

3. Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines

4. Communication of research agenda, progress, and results

5. Planning and drafting of possible publication

6. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning or related fields

7. Experience with Generative AI

8. Experience with geometry reconstruction (e.g. 3D gaussian splatting)

9. 2+ years of experience with Python or PyTorch

10. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

11. Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

13. Experience with unified generative text-to-image and text-to-video models

14. Experience in at least one of the following areas: facial rigging and animation, 3D gaussian splatting, autoregressive meshing, inverse rendering

15. Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated in accepted papers at top computer vision, computer graphics or machine learning related conferences such as CVPR, SIGGRAPH, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, or relevant conference
