QC Lab Mgr

Position Overview:

As a Laboratory Manager, you will provide leadership and accountability for lab results and the safety of lab personnel. You are responsible for managing all laboratory activities, serving as a liaison between the laboratory and production areas, and ensuring the completion of analyses for raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and environmental samples. Your role is crucial in driving business results by optimizing organizational performance through employee direction setting, development, training, and assessment. You are accountable for personnel scheduling to meet plant production requirements, quality, maintenance, safety, environmental performance, and overall effectiveness of your team. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement, compliance, and accuracy of laboratory processes through influence, training, interaction, auditing, and follow-up.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Provide leadership, technical oversight, and strategic direction for the QC Lab to ensure consistent, accurate, and precise analysis results;

+ Execute sample plans and ensure laboratory tests are completed according to established timelines with the customer;

+ Develop and mentor all personnel within the QC Lab, optimizing people performance and development;

+ Ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements, promoting continuous improvement in these areas;

+ Maintain ISO 17025 certification for the QC Lab;

+ Support internal, corporate, and external audits, responding appropriately to audit findings;

+ Ensure budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met;

+ Embrace change initiatives while leading the organization by modeling effective leadership;

+ Leverage resources to efficiently and effectively solve problems;

+ Set direction for the team regarding prioritization of tasks, operations, and projects;

+ Network with other leadership areas to identify, share, and implement best practices for the benefit of the Site and the business.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

+ B.S. degree;

+ Demonstrated leadership ability, including people and/or contract/project management;

+ Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), chromatography data systems (CDS), and quality systems;

+ Ability to promote flexibility to meet business objectives and identify, manage, and champion change;

+ VACC Leader Behaviors: Vision, Architect, Catalysts, Coach.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ B.S. degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical), Chemistry, or a related field;

+ 8+ years of manufacturing experience and 3+ years of people leadership experience;

+ Previous experience in a laboratory environment.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $139,556.80- $209,335.20. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
