    Job description

    1. Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities)

    Objective:

    The position holder will act as a full-time member of the SAFRAN Seats Technical Audit team and so has the responsibility to complete those activities in accordance with the defining processes.

     

    The role does not involve the direct management of other employees, primarily it involves the effective independent review of the engineering projects to ensure they are continuing in accordance with the Development process and with acceptable technical risk at each significant milestone.

     

    As such, the position holder must be experienced and skilled to identify technical risks and issues within all engineering disciplines and be able to make valid and workable technical recommendations based on that information.

     

    The position holder must be able to justify all findings from the Technical Audit activities, and when necessary, must be ready to explain those findings to management as part of the process to agree to any further steps to be taken. Works independently with members of all functions to ensure Develop processes are executed in an effective and efficient manner.

     

    2. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Main Function Responsibilities:

    A) Ensure Master Engineering Reviews (MER) and associated Part design reviews for each development project are held on time and in line with process requirements (SST-DEV-012) to support milestone gates or internal milestones (in case of new product/feature development).

     

    B) Act as an independent reviewer of both Master Engineering Reviews and Part Design Reviews while identifying any improvements or feedback as needed.

     

    C) Ensure all Review Action Item Lists (RAILs) are populated with appropriate actions and closure dates to support the Engineering review / Milestone which are followed up rigorously to ensure On Time Treatment (OTT).

     

    D) Be an active member of the TA network and communicate pro-actively on best practices that are seen in other BUs or in SGB to improve the whole SAFRAN Seats Company.

     

    E) Provide guidance and mentors new team members on processes

     

    F) Identifies improvements within SSUSA to ensure the TA missions are fully achieved and ensures suitable application of lessons learnt and knowledge transfer to capitalize on future programs.

    Candidate skills & requirements

     

    G) Participate and perform technical audits on programs as assigned by the head of department.

     

    H) Perform comprehensive audits/reviews (Master Engineering Review (MER), PBS reviews, Cert. Risk Mitigation, Level 1 – 3 review, TRL reviews, etc.) per applicable process with support from relevant experts to identify technical risks and mitigations.

     

    I) Publish required reports (e.g., MER monthly report, TA Quarterly report, TRL quality forms, etc.) in a timely manner.

     

    J) Confirm utilization of Lessons Learned (including cross BU Lessons) at different phases of engineering activities (e.g., design, stress, industrialization, cert. etc.) are capitalized and shared for new development programs.

     

    K) Other duties as assigned.

     

    3. Qualification Requirements:

    A. Education & Qualification-

    • Must have a B.S. in Engineering, such as Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent technical degree.

    B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge-

    • Minimum of 10 years related (mechanical design or certification and/or FEA) experience required.

    C. Professional Skills-

    • Knowledge and Skills: The position holder is required to have an in-depth knowledge of all engineering disciplines and be able to find suitable solutions to fulfill all of those necessary aspects when a particular technical problem arises. A good level of technical knowledge is required in the below:

    • Advanced Mechanical Design knowledge

    • Electrical Design knowledge

    • 3D Modeling: Proficiency in using CAD software to create & Audit detailed 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies.

    • Requires aircraft interior product structural experience in sheet metal, machining, and composite design.

    • Must have manufacturing interface experience with the total company capabilities in processes and controls.

    • Knowledge of Stress Analysis

    • Knowledge of Dynamic testing, static testing and understanding of results.

    • Knowledge of Current industry standards, including all relevant FAA, EASA and CAA regulations.

    • Knowledge of Air framer requirements and processes

    • Knowledge of Project Management

    • Knowledge of Risk Management

    • Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.

    • Ability to read and review written communication.

    • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

    D. Behavioral Skills-

    • Requires excellent communication skills that are needed to influence and convince other areas of new requirements or updates to current data.

    E. Desirable Aspects -

    • Knowledgeable about APQP, D&PFMEA, FMEA.

    • CATIA V5, AutoCAD

    4. Travel - International and/or Domestic travel required; More than 1 week per year.
