    Position Summary...

    What you'll do...

    Position Summary:

Walmart is a multinational people led tech powered omnichannel retailer with over 2.2M associates. Walmart’s International team supports Walmart’s global footprint—spanning over 5,200 retail units across 23 countries. We build software platforms that help Walmart procure high-quality products at the best value and ensure they reach customers globally, enabling them to save money and live better.

We are a globally integrated data and AI organization within Walmart International, driving transformation through unified, trusted data products that power smarter decisions, reduce duplication, strengthen governance, and unlock better, more consistent customer experiences at scale. Our mission spans across Canada, China, Chile, Central America, India, Mexico, and South Africa —where we support omnichannel retail operations and enable intelligent data platforms tailored to diverse market needs.

We are seeking a strategic and technically fluent Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a minimum of 10 years of experience to lead the execution of foundational data capabilities across our enterprise. This role is central to delivering unified, governed, and scalable data products and enabling the Single Source of Truth (SSOT) platform across markets and business-critical systems.

As a Principal Data TPM, you will convert strategy into execution plans, direct Staff Data TPMs work activities, and orchestrate delivery across engineering, product, and market teams. You will operate at the intersection of architecture, infrastructure, and business enablement—ensuring that data products are robust, compliant, and aligned with enterprise goals.

Your mission will be to orchestrate and optimize the delivery of enterprise data programs and platforms, enabling secure, scalable, and governed data access and analytics for all markets. The Principal Data TPM drives execution discipline, cross-program orchestration, and technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.

You should bring a solid foundation in technical architecture, systems design, and data modeling, along with hands-on experience leading large-scale software or data transformation programs. You should excel at driving clarity and alignment across cross-functional teams, operating with influence in a global, fast-paced environment. As a Principal Data TPM, your focus is on execution and integration—translating strategic direction into scalable solutions, coordinating delivery, and enabling Staff Data TPMs with the tools and frameworks needed to succeed.

    Strategic Objectives

+ **Operationalize AI-Enabled SSOT Data Products:** Drive rollout of Single Source of Truth (SSOT) products enhanced with AI/ML capabilities to unify analytics and enable trusted, scalable insights.

+ **Rationalize & Modernize Ecosystem:** Lead migration from legacy assets to AI-enabled SSOT platforms, ensuring intelligent orchestration, observability, and compliance at the infrastructure level.

+ **Accelerate AI/ML & Multi-Agent Frameworks:** Deliver enterprise-wide enablement of GenAI, AGI, ASI, and multi-agent systems, embedding them into data and platform delivery.

+ **Drive Market & Partner Engagement:** Ensure alignment with regional and global data/AI teams, clearly defining milestones, AI/ML adoption roadmaps, and deployment success metrics.

+ **Support Global AI/ML Initiatives:** Provide dedicated TPM leadership for international AI-driven data initiatives, ensuring strong program governance, risk mitigation, and change management.

    What you’ll do:

    Program Leadership & Execution

+ Convert AI/ML strategies into actionable program roadmaps, ensuring disciplined execution across global teams.

+ Oversee Staff Data TPMs and AI/ML Delivery TPMs to ensure consistency and alignment across clusters.

+ Manage cross-program dependencies, AI/ML enablement across products, and execution of SSOT rollouts with AI-enhanced data capabilities.

+ Drive phased AI/ML deployments, market onboarding, and compliance readiness.

    Data & Platform Infrastructure

+ Own delivery of data products and SSOT platforms with embedded AI observability, monitoring, and intelligent telemetry.

+ Oversee platform architecture and infrastructure readiness to support ML workloads and AI-first data pipelines.

+ Implement enterprise-level observability, cost transparency, billing, security, and compliance for AI-driven data platforms.

+ Lead governance and product analytics execution across clusters, ensuring AI/ML models are fully integrated and monitored.

    AI/ML Enablement & Multi-Agent Systems

+ Own enterprise AI/ML strategy spanning GenAI, AGI, ASI, and multi-agent frameworks.

+ Lead AI integration into platforms, ensuring model lifecycle management, governance, observability, and regulatory compliance.

+ Define and enforce AI/ML security protocols (access controls, auditability, bias/risk mitigation).

+ Partner with data science teams to operationalize AI/ML models into production-grade environments.

+ Guide Delivery TPMs and engineers in embedding AI-first design principles and multi-agent orchestration into product development.

    Cross-Functional Influence

+ Act as the bridge between data engineering, AI/ML science teams, platform architects, and business stakeholders.

+ Ensure strong collaboration and visibility across teams in international and multi-market contexts.

+ Mentor TPMs on AI/ML program management best practices, scaling operational efficiency across global clusters.

    What you’ll bring:

+ 10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management managing programs and projects, with a focus on enterprise data platforms

+ Strong technical acumen: able to engage in discussions on architecture, design patterns, and system integrations.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.

+ Skilled in stakeholder management, with ability to drive clarity and alignment across cross-functional teams.

+ Demonstrated success contributing to or leading SSOT, MDM, unified data fabric, or other large-scale software/data transformation programs within a defined scope.

+ Strong technical fluency in cloud and data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Databricks, DataLake, GCP, Azure), ETL/ELT systems, and data governance.

+ Solid understanding of data contracts, RBAC, billing, and metering, with exposure to multi-tenancy and TCO considerations.

+ Familiarity with global privacy, access control, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) protocols.

+ Working familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, GenAI, and agentic systems, with ability to support integration efforts.

+ Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams and navigating multi-regional compliance requirements.

+ Effective communicator with strong systems thinking, capable of translating strategy into execution.

+ Proven ability to operationalize governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan), and support metadata lineage and policy enforcement.

+ Experience supporting or helping shape TPM communities of practice and cross-team delivery frameworks.

+ Proficient in Agile development, JIRA/Confluence, and managing team capacity and throughput.
