Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services team.
The Forensics Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
Under limited supervision, the Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) will provide professional substance use assessment, treatment/therapy, and education for patients with an identified substance use disorder diagnosis or concern. The intermediate level Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) position will work with patients with co-existing mood and thought disorders as well as other mental health issues. In addition, the LADC will work with multi-disciplinary teams to provide integrated services. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
+ Gather data systematically from the patient and other available collateral sources to complete a Substance Use Assessment upon assessed need or referral.
+ Develop, implement, and evaluate substance use programs for patients to address their needs as related to substance abuse issues in the areas of social, spiritual, psychological, and physiological processes.
+ Provide substance use groups to individuals with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mood, thought or other mental health disorders.
+ Contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.
+ To maintain appropriate credentials and remain current on professional trends.
+ To comply with all FMHP administrative policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all standards and rules.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in addiction counseling, a clinical behavioral science, or related field; and a license in good standing as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the State of Minnesota; and
One year (1) of post-bachelor's degree experience providing substance abuse treatment services/behavioral health services including at least 4 of the 6 activities listed below:
+ Providing direct care and therapeutic support to individuals
+ Assisting with assessment of behavior health challenges including data collection
+ Experience leading and/or facilitating educational groups or therapeutic activities with individuals with mental health symptoms
+ Experience developing or implementing support plans or treatment plans that addresses behavior through adaptations, activities, interventions, education, engagement, and support
+ Assisting in planning and hand-off communication of support plans and strategies for supporting individuals upon discharge
+ Developing/assisting in development of behavioral interventions and recommendations for interdisciplinary staff implementation
_* Supervised training experience obtained as a part of requirements for a bachelor’s degree program may be counted towards years of experience. (Pre-gradation experience)_
OR
Master’s degree in addiction counseling, a clinical behavioral science, or related field; and
Independent License/Certification in the State of Minnesota (e.g. LADC)
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness, substance use, or in a forensic setting (e.g., jails, prisons, or courts).
