    About the HTML5 App Platform Team

    Our team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the platform that enables hundreds of third-party apps to run seamlessly on Vizio TVs, accounting for the majority of user viewing hours. We operate as a close-knit, collaborative group of 8–10 engineers, working in-office in Dallas, TX. Our mission is to deliver robust, scalable solutions that support Vizio’s commitment to high performance and innovation. As a Software Engineer III, you’ll play a key role in addressing technical debt, designing new features, and ensuring the reliability of our platform.

    What You’ll Do

    + Develop and maintain C/C++ code in a cross-compilation environment

    + Work with embedded Linux systems and shell programming

    + Analyze and debug using GDB and core dumps

    + Design, document, and implement new software features

    + Debug and write JavaScript code

    + Integrate into the team’s workflow and codebase within 3 months

    + Independently handle medium to large tasks by your first year

    What You’ll Bring

    + 7+ years of C/C++ experience, including modern C++ (C++17 or later)

    + 3+ years of Linux shell or system experience

    + Strong ability to explain technical concepts and seek cross-team collaboration

    + Experience with multiple code branches and independent work

    + Bonus: Experience with Chromium

    Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities.     Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
