    Responsibilities

    Full Time - Second Shift

     

    2:30pm - 12am

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    As a **Floor Lead** , you’ll play a vital role in supporting the Production Supervisor by ensuring packing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with safety and food quality standards. You’ll monitor packing lines, assist team members, ensure customer specifications are met, and maintain accurate documentation. This position requires strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Promote and maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures.

    + Ensure full regulatory compliance at all times.

    + Assist packers on all lines during backups, jams, breaks, and lunches.

    + Possess thorough knowledge of food safety policies and procedures.

    + Provide input for employee evaluations and assist in training new team members.

    + Understand and perform quality checks (weight, x-ray, etc.) and complete related documentation in RedZone.

    + Identify product that does not meet specifications and take corrective action.

    + Maintain clear communication between production floors and the palletizing area.

    + Collect product samples for quality assurance.

    + Support general housekeeping and cleanliness of the work area.

    + Monitor the Cooked Department for inefficiencies and report issues to the supervisor.

    + Adjust equipment such as patty stackers, tape machines, printers, and conveyors to ensure optimal performance.

    + Ensure adequate supplies are available for uninterrupted production.

    + Complete required paperwork (e.g., tracking seconds/thirds, documenting checks).

    + Lead RedZone huddles in the absence of the Shift Lead or Supervisor.

    + Follow GMP and HACCP guidelines to maintain SQF Level 3 certification.

    + Report any conditions that may affect food safety, product quality, or personnel safety.

    + Foster a positive work environment through respectful communication and teamwork.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    + High school diploma or GED equivalent.

    + Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with teams and leadership.

    + Proficient in basic math, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.

    + Ability to interpret bar graphs and solve practical problems.

    + PIT/Forklift Certification.

    + Valid driver’s license.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    + Strong communication skills (reading, writing, verbal).

    + Positive attitude and ability to address issues tactfully with supervisors.

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to lead others.

    + Basic computer and math skills.

    + Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate specific equipment/tools.

    + In-depth knowledge of the Cooked Department and customer specifications.

    + Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and safety regulations.

    + Ability to wear required PPE and work in changing temperature environments.

    + Ability to travel stairs, stand on hard surfaces, and multitask effectively.

    + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    + Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform essential duties.

     

    This job description outlines the core responsibilities and expectations for the Lead Packer role. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support production goals and maintain compliance.
