Job Description:
Direct clinical oversight for MA staff under the direction of the Ambulatory Nurse Director. Responsible to provide clinical expertise and leadership to the delivery of nursing care.
**Shift Details** : 40 hours/week, Full Time and Salaried. Schedule will be Monday- Friday daytime hours. Exact schedule and start/end times to be determined upon hire and have some flexibility.

Scope
The Ambulatory MA Coordinator reports to the Ambulatory Nurse Director and plays a key role in clinical oversight. They will typically supervise MA clinical staff of 45-50 employees. They are included in strategic decisions specific to staffing models and oversight of staff performance.
Job Essentials
In collaboration with clinic manager, projects MA staffing needs for current and following shift and/or department to provide optimal patient care.
Ensures that MA staffing and skill levels match census/acuities for the unit; coordinates cost-effective use of staff by ensuring appropriate staff-to-provider ratio.
Under the direction of the Ambulatory Nurse Director, collaborates with Clinic Manager to complete and conduct MA annual performance reviews of staff; enforces policies, guidelines and procedures.
Responsible for initial and on-going counseling of MA staff for performance issues; collaborates with clinic manager for employee hiring, on-boarding and orientation.
Oversees competency of MA staff through annual skills updates, ongoing educational in-services and completion of mandatory educational requirements.
Performs site visits and communicates results to Ambulatory Nurse Director.
Monitors and provides clinical reports for Geographic Area as needed. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. Zero Harm, CQI).
Minimum Qualifications
Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
5 years of Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications/registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA or have obtained certification within one year of hire.
Satisfactorily completes applicable competency assessments/skills checklists within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$24.06 - $37.15
