    Summary:

    Schedule: Fulltime; 40hrs; Salary; 1st shift; On Call Required

     

    The Application Architect provides direction, guidance, and definition of the system enhancements, optimization, upgrades, and customizations for Baystate Health. Is responsible for understanding the integration touch points between the modules/applications, including all interfaces that impact the system and is the technical lead for new application designs. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that deliverables are completed within committed time and budget and are integrated with other projects. Maintains working knowledge of trends and best practices.

     

    The incumbent may be asked to provide input into the annual BH Employee Evaluation process and works with the Manager and/or the Director to identify training and development opportunities for other team members.

     

    The Application Architect leads and mentors other team members and participates or leads code reviews for projects. The incumbent will also work across IT with other Architects to generate associated policies, standards and procedures and ensure standards are communicated and adhered to.

     

    The Application Architect designs and implements a highly automated environment to support a scalable architecture. All aspects of the work must be done with the utmost attention to risk mitigation and downtime avoidance.

    Job Responsibilities:

    **1)** Leads and coordinates system upgrades by planning the hardware, software and integration requirements and the roadmap for execution. Tracks vendor software releases and updates.

    **2)** Collaborates with other Architects, business and clinical application areas and operations to define optimal solutions for integration initiatives. Consults on application and integration development projects.

    **3)** Creates business recovery solutions related to supporting applications, hardware, and infrastructure in partnership with the Enterprise Architects.

    **4)** Assists in the development of capital and operational budgets.

    **5)** Develops comprehensive technology integration roadmap across applications.

    **6)** Supports development of enterprise architecture, promotes and communicates progress, outcomes and results to organization's leaders.

    **7)** Participates in technical committees responsible for the development of corporate standards and procedures relative to IT system environments.

    **8)** Maintains current knowledge of emerging technologies.

    **9)** Participates in 24/7 on call rotations as needed.

    **10)** Reviews/creates documentation and test plans for all assigned projects.

    Required Work Experience:

    **1)** Greater than 5 years of demonstrated experience in development and support and /systems integration

    Preferred Work Experience:

    + Must develop thorough understanding of enterprise application infrastructure and processes to assist teammates with on call issues, to identify how changes, updates and enhancement will affect ambulatory revenue cycle overall

    + Must understand how enterprise applications fit into larger, integrated enterprise, how data flows between systems to propose solutions and troubleshoot even if the issue is not in the MPS realm.

    + Must be able to troubleshoot failures on any part of the enterprise applications infrastructure, to seek assistance from other Baystate teams and outside vendors as necessary

    Skills and Competencies:

    Technical skills:

    + Programming for an Iris/Cache database including Object Script, Cache SQL, CSP pages.

    + Management of an Iris database. While Baystate DBAs are ultimately responsible for managing the database for space, updates, etc, the architect must be able to monitor, adjust and troubleshoot licensing, processes, locks, etc

    + Basic Linux commands to troubleshoot issues on the CB host server such as print queue issues, as well as to develop basic scripts

    + SQL Server – database and table creation for new applications, SQL server queries, job scheduling

    + Oracle and PLSQL – able to write stored procedures, table maintenance

    + Windows – basic understanding of server function, maintenance and troubleshooting. Basic understanding of IIS to maintain APIs

    + Familiarity with standard HL7

    GED or HiSET (Required)
