    Job Description

    Position Title:

    Quality Control & Metallurgy Technician

    Department:

    Quality Control Department

    FLSA Status:

    Hourly

    Position Summary:

    Examines and tests metal samples to determine physical properties.

    Essential Functions:

    + Conducts microscopic examinations of metals and alloys.

    + Cuts and mounts metallurgical samples.

    + Polishes and/or etches metal specimens.

    + Photographs samples.

    + Performs quality checks/tests on product to ensure product conforms to industry and customer specifications.

    + Tests samples in pressure devices, acid baths, and other apparatus to determine strength, hardness, elasticity, toughness, torque, or other properties of metal.

    + Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Skills & Abilities:

    + Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and procedures or work instructions.

    + Certified and able to operate mobile equipment.

    + Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

    + Strong math skills.

    + Knowledge of Microsoft office products, Google Suite, and other in-house programs.

    + Must be willing to work overtime or other shifts, as necessary.

    + Works with and supports the entire quality team.

    Education:

    HS Diploma is preferred, but not required. AS degree is a plus.

    Experience:

    1-3 years related work experience is desirable, but not obligatory.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is normally performed in an office / lab environment, with limited physical effort required. However, must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and endure frequent bending and standing to file documentation.
