Join Eaton’s Embedded Systems Software (E2S) Center of Excellence (CoE) team, where we develop enterprise-wide software and firmware solutions primarily focusing on the Aerospace Sector, while supporting tasks in Mobility and the Electrical Sector. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for defining requirements and ensuring compliance with DO-178C standards through rigorous verification.
You’ll work alongside a passionate team of engineers, engaging in every phase of development—from concept to deployment. Expect mentorship from senior team members and collaboration with global CoE engineering functions. This role is based in Grand Rapids, MI and relocation assistance is available!
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,250 - $122,100 a year.

What you’ll do:
• Support and lead projects involving multiple components for completeness and compliance with internal and industry standards.
• Deep involvement in software and firmware requirement definitions. Building documentation to enable and execute validation & verification activities.
• Evaluate embedded system level requirements and software algorithm proposals to meet product performance (processor utilization, memory usage), functionality, and robustness requirements.
• Help define and improve embedded coding standards, configuration guidelines and processes, and contribute to industry technical papers and conferences.
• Build and maintain working relationships with the product, electronics, and software engineering organization, along with other functional groups and customers. Demonstrate teachability in mentoring relationships while communicating with confidence.
Qualifications:
Required basic qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in embedded systems software development
• This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with aerospace certification standards DO-178C and DO-254
• Working knowledge of one or more programming languages (C, Java, C++, Python)
• Demonstrated knowledge of a source code version control system, configuration control, and document release processes (GitHub, Enovia, ACES)
• Experience using team collaboration, requirement management tools (DOORS, Jira)
• Working knowledge of one or more model-based design tools (Simulink, SCADE)
