    GENERAL FUNCTIONS

    The Student Engagement & Inclusion Associate will assist the Director of Student Engagement & Inclusion in the provision of activities and programs which promote the personal, social, professional, cultural, educational, and recreational enrichment of students. They are responsible for the development and implementation of various diversity and inclusion projects and will assist in making the College an increasingly inclusive and culturally competent climate through increasing awareness and improving perceptions among students, faculty and staff.

     

    The Student Engagement & Inclusion Associate assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and services that promote students' personal, social, cultural, professional, and recreational enrichment. This position plays a key role in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives, fostering a campus climate that is welcoming and culturally competent.

     

    This role also supports student governance, leadership development, and off-campus student engagement and contributes to collaborative efforts that enhance student life and retention.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    A. Programming & Student Engagement

    + Coordinate and execution of cultural, recreational, and social programming for a wide range of student demographics.

    + Act as Co-Advisor to student leadership groups, for example, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA).

    + Assist with the coordination and implementation of campus-wide activities, for example, Orientation, Banquets, Commencement, Week of Welcome, Club Fair, Blood Drives, etc. Assist the Leadership programs on campus.

    B. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives

    + Develop and implement DEI programs, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to create an inclusive campus environment.

    + Investigate diversity and inclusion needs and training opportunities. Plan and organize professional development events to meet such needs.

    + Attend Inclusive Excellence Committee Meetings and collaborate with the Chief Diversity Officer, Title IX Coordinator, Dean of Students Office, and Residence Life leadership on shared initiatives.

    + Network with community organizations serving diverse populations to build partnerships and enhance student support services.

    C. Operational & Administrative Support

    + Manage and supervise a team of 20+ student workers, including oversight of their scheduling and daily responsibilities. Areas of supervision include the SE&I office front desk operations, intramural sports planning, campus food pantry coordination, and the Esports lounge.

    + Oversee and maintain budget lines for assigned functional areas, including clubs and programming supplies; ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures while managing the full procurement process for large purchases.

    + Manage content for office webpages, social media, flyers, and digital signage.

    + Serve as a liaison to activities personnel at Campus Centers.

    + Assist with managing policies and procedures related to clubs and organizations. Conduct advisor training.

    + Support office functions (ID cards, lockers, calendar of events, etc.).

    + Assist with recruiting, hiring, and supervising Work-Study and SWAP students.

    + Safely operate College-owned vehicles to transport students to and from various on and off-campus locations.

    + Maintain vehicle cleanliness and conduct routine safety inspections.

    + Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and university transportation policies.

    D. Collaboration & Leadership

    + Serves as the second-in-command and takes on decision-making duties when the director is unavailable.

    + Provide direction and support for other staff through clear communication, modeling professional behavior, and aligning with college goals.

    + Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of SEI.

    Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a related field required

    EXPERIENCE

    Experience (at least three years with an Associate's Degree) in Student Affairs/Campus Life or related area at the College level is required. Experience with program development, event planning, and assessment of student engagement initiatives. Professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion or multicultural initiatives.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media products required. Excellent written, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with students and parents. Must be a friendly, enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Individual must be self-motivated with the capacity to independently organize their work to achieve specific objectives. Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of diverse issues and demonstrate sensitivity to diversity. Possession of a valid NY State driver's license is required. Occasional evening and weekend availability required.

    Additional Information:

    RELATIONSHIPS:

    This position reports to the Director of SEI. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Resident Life & Learning, the Title IX coordinator, the Dean of Students, and the Vice President for Student Affairs & Chief Diversity Officer.

    SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    This is a twelve (12) month position. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract. Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities are expected. The position is compensated at a rate of $43,868.98.
