PURPOSE
This position is responsible for directing the overall implementation and management of the designated Upward Bound programs for planning, goal setting, and operation of these grant funded programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations: 60%
+ Responsible for directing the overall implementation and management of the designated Upward Bound programs for planning, goal setting, and operation of these grant funded programs.
+ Develop and implement school schedules, school plans and student academic and social activities.
+ Maintain internal and external relationships to advance mission of programs.
+ Oversight of the Program Budget in compliance with guidelines.
+ Participates in TRIO conferences and workshops for professional growth and development.
+ Manage and submit the federal APR and respond to all reports required by the U.S. Department of Education and TAMUCC including: WEAVE, BCP, departmental monthly reports, school reports and community reports. Maintain accurate project records in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education.
+ Management of the implementation of the TRIO Federal Student Eligibility Verification Process.
+ Promote the services available through TRIO Upward Bound by presenting on- campus, at schools and community events.
+ Facilitate awareness of the TRIO programs by marketing the program and promoting program services through informational presentations to faculty, staff, prospective students from the required schools and/or by distributing program literature at student functions, strategic locations across Corpus Christi, and elsewhere as appropriate.
+ Develop and implement a six (6) week on-campus summer program.
+ May be required to work beyond normal office hours including evening and/or on weekends.
Supervision: 20%
+ Hire and train all Upward Bound staff, conduct staff and individual supervision meetings. Supervise the project staff.
+ Schedule and conduct staff in-service training activities.
+ Hire curriculum instructors, RAs for dorms, tutors for TSI and plan and implement summer academic trip.
Other: 20%
+ Maintain the security of all student records.
+ Responsible for managing student progress reporting.
+ Attend and serve as chaperone for Upward Bound events and activities; including occasional overnight trips and dorm stays.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Master’s degree in applicable field.
+ Five (5) years of experience in managing federally funded grants programs or related experience.
+ Additional education/experience may be used as a substitute for the minimum requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree and Seven (7) years of experience in managing federally funded grants programs or related experience, OR
+ Doctoral degree and Three (3) years of experience in managing federally funded grants programs or related experience
+ Experience supervising.
+ Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
+ Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills,
+ Ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships.
+ Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions regularly that impact student welfare and the institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience with Upward Bound.
+ Experience with managing budgets.
+ Experience in leadership roles for federally funded grant programs.
SALARY: Up to $6,250.00 Monthly ($75,000.00 Annual, Approximately)
+ NOTE: This is a grant funded position. Continued employment contingent upon available funding.
