    We are seeking a highly experienced **Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineer** with extensive knowledge of **TxDOT standards and specifications** . This role involves overseeing field and laboratory testing of construction materials, providing technical guidance, managing quality assurance programs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for transportation infrastructure projects.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and manage field and laboratory testing of construction materials including soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and steel in accordance with **TxDOT** , **ASTM** , and **AASHTO** standards.

    + Ensure projects meet quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) criteria set by **TxDOT** .

    + Oversee technicians and junior engineers, reviewing test results and providing technical mentorship.

    + Prepare and review technical reports, field inspection logs, and laboratory results.

    + Interface with TxDOT inspectors, contractors, and project managers to resolve construction issues and ensure adherence to design specifications.

    + Participate in pre-construction meetings and progress meetings as the subject matter expert on materials testing.

    + Maintain current knowledge of TxDOT materials specifications, test procedures, and updates.

    + Coordinate with third-party labs and internal teams for specialized testing or investigations.

    + Review and develop technical specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.

    + Serve as a technical liaison with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies

    + Support proposal development and provide input on scopes, schedules, and budgets

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

    + **Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Texas** required.

    + Minimum **7–10 years** of experience in construction materials testing, with **significant experience on TxDOT projects** .

    + Hold all applicable TXDOT precertification’s for materials testing.

    + Deep understanding of TxDOT manuals, test methods (TxDOT 100 series and beyond), and specifications.

    + Proficient in standard software tools such as MS Office; experience with LIMS, SiteManager, or other project tracking systems is a plus.

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.

    + Certifications such as ACI, NICET, or TxAPA are highly desirable.

    + Experience managing multidisciplinary teams on TxDOT or other DOT projects is preferred

    + Knowledge of pavement design, geotechnical engineering principles, and materials failure analysis is preferred

    + Familiarity with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements is preferred

    Travel Requirements

    This position requires extensive travel, approximately up to 70% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    + Work is conducted using a computer, phone, and virtual collaboration tools, with regular communicationwith team members, clients, and stakeholders.

    + Employees are expected to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting that may involve virtual meetings,deadlines, and independent work.

    + While the work environment is typically climate-controlled, employees must ensure an appropriate andprofessional home office setup.
