We are seeking a Facility Supervisor – Wastewater for our East Chicago, IN location who is compliance-focused and technically experienced. This position will lead a team of hourly wastewater operators and ensure compliance with all IDEM and EPA regulations. You must be licensed, detail-oriented, and committed to operational excellence in a high-priority treatment environment.

+ Supervises daily operation of wastewater systems including activated sludge and nutrient removal processes

+ Oversees a team of four union hourly operators and ensures proper scheduling and accountability

+ Monitors and responds to SCADA system data (interface only) to optimize plant performance

+ Ensures accurate reporting and recordkeeping in compliance with IDEM and EPA regulations

+ Leads incident response for process upsets and participates in on-call/emergency response rotation

+ Collaborates with other departments to support integrated plant operations and environmental compliance

+ Promotes a performance-driven, safety-conscious, and compliant work culture

What does it take to be a part of our Safety-Kleen team?

+ Indiana Class IV Wastewater Operator License (required)

+ 5–6 years of hands-on wastewater operations experience (industrial or municipal)

+ 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience

+ Strong understanding of IDEM, EPA, and Clean Water Act compliance requirements

+ Ability to interpret SCADA output and plant operations data (no programming required)

+ Performance management and conflict resolution skills in a union environment

+ Strong written and verbal communication

+ Must be computer savvy – Office 365 and plant compliance systems

+ Willingness to participate in on-call coverage and emergency response
