Oncology Data Specialist – Cancer Registrar

What You’ll Do:

+ Collect, abstract, and maintain comprehensive cancer data in compliance with state, national, and institutional standards.

+ Review pathology, cytology, autopsy, radiation therapy, and diagnostic reports for case-finding and treatment documentation.

+ Translate medical terminology into standardized codes for diagnosis and treatment.

+ Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of data for all cancer patients treated at Loyola University Medical Center.

+ Maintain compliance with Commission on Cancer standards (6.1–6.5) to support Loyola’s accreditation.

+ Average 4–6 case abstractions per day depending on complexity.

What You’ll Need:

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent

+ Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) or ability to obtain within 30 months of employment

+ Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards

+ Experience with cancer registry software and reporting systems preferred

Compensation:

Pay Range: $23.18 - $35.92 per hour

_Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles._
