Position Summary
Accountable for planning, development, execution and evaluation of education provided for the maternity nursing staff. This position maintains the standards of JCAHO, DOH, OSHA, EMTALA and appropriate certification requirements. Supports the mission, values, philosophy and objectives of HMC and practices within the framework of Shared Governance.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides educational content and support to the staff of MNCC and Pediatrics.
2. Establish systems and processes to manage and continuously improve the quality of patient care.
3. Data collection and analysis to improve and develop new educational programs.
4. Assists with the onboarding of new staff.
5. Maintains and serves as a role model for professional growth and development.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
BSN, Master’s degree in a health related field or enrolled in a Master’s degree program with completion in 5 years from hire
Preferred:
MSN with concentration on education PHD or DNP
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Demonstrated leadership and teaching ability, 5 years experience working in a maternity related field and general curriculum development.
Preferred:
Experience in ante, intra, and postpartum neonatal and pediatric nursing.
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
? Current NJ RN licensure and American Heart Association CPR certification.
? Fetal Heart Monitoring.
? American Heart Association/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
Preferred:
ANCC certification in Obstetrics and Pediatrics
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
? Leadership and teaching skills, curriculum assessment and development. Knowledge of power point and publisher programs.
