    How You Can Make an Impact

    The Operations Data Strategist will build and maintain Power BI dashboards where operational leaders can view real time data fed by field systems, safety logs, inspection data, and financial feeds to turn on-site data into actionable insights that drive operational excellence. The Strategist will develop predictive models to help anticipate incidents, quality defects, and cost overruns. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on performance data such as crew sizing, unit costs, productivity, and job planning. It will also support initiatives that improve efficiency, standardize processes, and ensure data-driven decision-making across all active and future projects.

    How You Will Contribute

    + Serve as liaison between operations and field leadership to forecast labor, equipment use, and earned value trends.

    + Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for field supervisors and field leadership to view daily safety scorecards, DOT compliance, inspection compliance, and QA trends.

    + Build predictive models (Python, Azure ML) for risk, QA, and cost overruns.

    + Analyze and report on productivity, unit costs, crew efficiency, and job cost metrics across projects, within Power BI dashboards.

    + Support creation and tracking of action plans, development plans, and operational KPIs.

    + Perform time‑series forecasting to predict crew labor requirements, equipment utilization, and earned‑value trends.

    + Provide recurring reports for field leadership.

    + Perform exploration and statistical analyses to identify safety trends, operational productivity metrics (e.g., crew utilization, cycle times), quality indicators, and cost variances (labor, equipment, materials).

    + Ensure data alignment from bid through execution; support compliance through data-driven insights.

    + Design and operate ETL/ELT pipelines (Fabric Dataflows, Azure Data Factory) to integrate data from multiple systems, databases, and spreadsheets.

    + Assist with long-range and annual work plans aligned with budget and resource availability.

    + Train field staff on data entry, dashboard use, and performance metrics.

    + Define KPIs with operations teams on productivity targets, safety goals, quality benchmarks, cost thresholds.

    + Implement data quality rules, metadata logging, and automation in OneLake or Azure Synapse.

    + Automate report updates, data checks, and exception-based alerts using Power Automate or Azure Logic Apps.

    + Travel to job sites as needed and support field supervisors.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring to the Table

    + Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

    + Proficient in Power BI (Desktop & Service), including DAX, Power Query, paginated reports, and mobile‑friendly visuals.

    + Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory/Dataflows, Synapse) and core Azure services (Azure SQL, Data Lake Storage).

    + Strong Python skills for data cleansing, statistical analysis (pandas), ML prototyping, and cost‑model scripting.

    + Familiar with Data APIs, safety/QA management systems, and construction cost‑tracking platforms.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.

    + Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    + Experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects, program tracking, and process optimization.

    + Understanding of underground utility operations is a strong plus.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

    Your Prior Experience

    + Required: High School Diploma or GED

    + Required: Valid Class C Driver’s License; clean driving record

    + Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or other related field

    + Preferred: Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Azure Data Engineer.

    + Minimum 2 years of experience in operations, business analytics, or project management (utility/construction industry preferred).

     

    Our Competitive Package

    Pay: $75,000 to $85,000 annually

    This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
