Role Overview:
The Geotechnical Business Services Coordinator reports to the Director of Geotechnical Engineering. You will provide access to Electronic Records Management System, organize training classes, and assist the Director and Engineers in preparing geotechnical reports for transportation projects in a cost effective and efficient manner.

This position is located in INDOT’s Central Office, Indianapolis.
Salary :
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $47,320. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are:
+ Oversee time management activities for the Division of Geotechnical Engineering.
+ Provide access to Electronic Records Management System for all geotechnical consultants.
+ Ensure Geotechnical gINT/OpenGround program licenses are renewed.
+ Organize training courses, webinars, conferences, and workshops for the office staff.
+ Coordinate activities with the Indiana Office of Technology for Getechnical Office and Aerial Engineering.
+ Provide basic procedural training to office personnel.
+ Collect information needed for preparing Office Monthly Reports.
+ Collect geotechnical data from different state agencies (Indiana geological Survey,DNR, IDEM etc.)and consultants to maintain Geotechnical Data Bank.
+ Collect and maintain inventories for the division which include general, computers, equipment, vehicles, and other geotechnical fleet.
+ Maintain geotechnical electronic filing system.
+ Assist in getting clearance for utilities for drilling operation.
+ Assist staff members in preparing technical presentations.
+ Conduct agency orientation for new employees.
+ Collect estimates and other information required to prepare requisitions for new purchases of drilling, laboratory, and office equipment.
+ Conduct initial review of consultants' itemizations and invoices.
+ Ensure consultant invoice validation using PayWise online services so payments can be made.
+ Maintain AASHTO Materails Reference inspection records for personnel and equipment.
+ Assess inventory needs and order office supplies.
+ Coordinate general building maintenance of both the laboratory and engineering offices.
+ Maintain vehicle maintenance and mileage logs.

What You'll Need for Success:
Credential:
+ Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
+ 2 years of college coursework, or college degree.
Additional qualifications:
+ Ability to understand Federal and State requirements and guidelines in regards to Geotechnical testing and compilation of data.
+ Ability to learn to draft schematics for hole diagrams, location maps and to plot graphs of geotechnical field data.
+ Ability to understand geotechnical field instrumentation.
+ Ability to interpret the field slope indicator data and record findings and prepare reports.
+ Ability to clearly and accurately communicate, both written and verbally.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
