    Description

    We are looking for an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist for a contract to hire role based in Charleston, SC. Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist must demonstrate strong analytical, technological, organizational, and communication skills. The position typically requires at least three years of experience in a similar role and reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Accurately input and code vendor invoices in a timely manner.

    + Review invoices to ensure proper documentation and approval before processing for payment.

    + Print vendor checks and obtain necessary signatures.

    + Distribute signed checks as required.

    + Act as a liaison between the corporate office and business unit managers/directors.

    + Respond to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally.

    + Assist with credit applications for new vendors and review vendor documentation, including W9 forms and banking information.

    + Maintain accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate files related to AP activities.

    + Verify and confirm vendor banking information when applicable.

    + Assist in month-end closing processes.

    + Prepare account analyses as needed.

    + Process payments across multiple platforms and various payment methods (online, credit cards).

    + Perform additional duties or projects as assigned.

     

    Education and Experience Requirements

     

    + A degree in Accounting (completed or in progress) is preferred but not required.

    + Three years of hands-on experience in accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable in lieu of a degree is acceptable.

    Requirements

    + Proficiency in an AP or AR role with similar responsibilities.

    + Experience with accounting software such as Sage, IFS, or QuickBooks Online is a plus.

    + Advanced Excel skills are required.

    + Exceptional attention to detail.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + A track record of exceeding workplace expectations.

    + Flexibility and motivation to work effectively during the transition to a new ERP system, which will integrate multiple company functions.
