    Job Title: Systems Engineer Job Description

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a fully funded, stable program for the U.S. Army. This role involves deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting information systems both in lab and field environments, managing tactical data exchanges, and configuring cloud computing solutions.

    Responsibilities

    + Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot information systems for both lab and field environments.

    + Configure client machines to interface with commercial internet system servers.

    + Federate multiple commercial internet system servers across disparate nodes.

    + Manage deployment, management, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems.

    + Manage tactical data exchanges and visualization using Variable Message Format (VMF) and Data Dissemination Service (DDS).

    + Configure and manage cloud instantiations using Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.

    + Deploy containers in a distributed architecture and manage cluster orchestration using Kubernetes.

    + Configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking appliances, including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

    + Manage Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) and standalone network assets.

    + Install and manage NetApp software products like ONTAP, StorageGRID, and Cloud Sync.

    + Configure and manage virtual machines and hypervisors such as VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, and Oracle.

    + Install and manage VMware software including ESXi, vSAN, vSphere, and vCenter.

    + Configure and manage encryption hardware.

    + Configure and manage databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and MongoDB.

    + Generate artifacts for Risk Management Framework (RMF) Accreditation.

    + Generate artifacts for Authority to Operate (ATO) and Interim Authority to Test (IATO).

    + Conduct network troubleshooting and stimulation using tools like Wireshark, MGEN, and Iperf.

    + Architect network topologies and produce related artifacts and diagrams.

    + Assist with the development of test plans for lab and field experimentation.

    + Document research and development findings using MS Office Suite products.

    + Support lab/field testing and experimentation events and associated risk reduction events.

    + Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, SQL, and visualizations.

    + Expertise in Cisco switches, routers, and systems integration.

    + Strong knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems.

    + Experience with Army Command and Control (C2) processes and Programs of Record applications.

    + Experience in C2 test and thread development/execution and organization of lab-based risk reduction events.

    + Proficiency with server and systems integration and systems administration.

    + Active Secret clearance is required.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science is required.

    + Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience required.

    + Knowledge of C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) and integration is preferred.

    + Experience with Tactical Satellite and Terrestrial communications systems is preferred.

    + Familiarity with wireless communication transports such as millimeter wave (mmWave) and Wi-Fi is preferred.

    + Understanding of Army Command Posts, Legacy Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs), and Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2) is preferred.

    + Experience with data storage solutions like Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) is preferred.

    Work Environment

    This role is based on-site at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, a Test & Evaluation center for the U.S. Army. The position may require less than 25% travel, including locations within and outside the continental United States. The work environment involves working with advanced technologies and requires the ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
