    Job Title: Electrical Designer

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to lead the design and layout of electrical systems for commercial and residential construction projects. This role involves creating comprehensive electrical plans and schematics that align with project requirements and applicable building codes.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead the design and layout of electrical systems for commercial and residential construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, receptacles, and fire alarm systems.

    + Develop comprehensive electrical plans and schematics that align with project requirements, client expectations, and applicable building codes (NEC, NFPA, IBC).

    + Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, civil teams, and clients to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall design framework.

    + Conduct site visits and client meetings to assess field conditions, verify design intent, and provide technical support during construction phases.

    + Assist in the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and permit submittals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance.

    + Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior designers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design for commercial and residential buildings, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

    + In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including low-voltage design, load calculations, panel schedules, and circuiting strategies.

    + Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and BIM modeling; able to produce clear, code-compliant documentation.

    + Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite for project coordination, reporting, and communication.

    + Strong understanding of local and national electrical codes, permitting processes, and construction standards.

    + Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Familiarity with multi-family residential design and mixed-use developments is highly desirable.

    + Experience with Revit MEP.

    + Commercial experience with drafting and electrical design using AutoCAD.

    Work Environment

    This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for two days of remote work per week. The role provides opportunities for growth, including the potential to help lead a small office. Collaborate on a variety of projects with a team based out of Atlanta. Occasional travel is required for client consultations, site assessments, and construction coordination meetings.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
