Food Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented New Product Development (NPD) Technician to join our R&D team. This role is responsible for supporting the full product development cycle—from concept ideation and formulation through pilot testing, scale-up, and commercialization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food innovation, strong technical skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

+ Assist in the creation and refinement of new food products based on market trends, customer feedback, and internal innovation goals.

+ Conduct ingredient research, bench-top formulation, and sensory evaluations.

+ Prepare prototypes and conduct pilot-scale trials to validate formulations and processes.

+ Document results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.

+ Support scale-up activities in collaboration with production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.

+ Ensure smooth transition from R&D to full-scale manufacturing, maintaining product integrity and quality.

+ Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and process parameters.

+ Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and internal quality standards.

+ Work closely with marketing, procurement, and operations to align product development with business objectives.

+ Participate in customer presentations, product demos, and technical reviews as needed.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a combination of kitchen, lab, and manufacturing settings. Standard working hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Granite City, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $44000.00 - $50000.00/yr.
