Job Title: Laboratory AssistantJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to perform sample extractions and support various laboratory tasks. This role is pivotal in preparing samples and ensuring accurate data collection.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct sample extractions efficiently and accurately.

+ Perform pipetting of reagents to prepare bulk master mix samples using three different reagent solutions.

+ Transfer master mix samples onto 96 well PCR plates with DNA traits.

+ Assist in running the PCR and performing related computer work.

+ Store plates in designated 'blue' boxes and manage their organization in a freezer for one month.

+ Discard old samples in accordance with laboratory protocols.

+ Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in laboratory processes.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in PCR and DNA analysis.

+ Experience with genotyping and basic biology principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.

Work Environment

This is a full-time seasonal position with standard working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, flexibility is required to accommodate the production schedule during peak periods. The possibility of contract extension exists but is not guaranteed. The work environment involves handling sensitive laboratory equipment and requires adherence to safety and quality standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Johnston, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
