Job Title: Float Phlebotomy Technician
Job Description
As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and delivering customer-focused service. This role involves performing venipuncture on patients of all ages, collecting and preparing non-blood specimens, ensuring proper specimen processing, labeling, and test ordering, and championing safety, compliance, and quality control.
Responsibilities
+ Receive the requisition and draw blood on patients.
+ Print labels and process samples.
+ Prepare samples to be sent out to the courier.
+ Perform venipuncture on patients of all ages.
+ Collect and prepare non-blood specimens.
+ Ensure proper specimen processing, labeling, and test ordering.
+ Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
Essential Skills
+ Phlebotomy certification.
+ Proficiency in blood draws, particularly venipuncture and using a straight needle.
+ Experience in specimen collection and processing.
+ Strong customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of the Order of Draw.
+ Ideally two years of experience in phlebotomy.
Work Environment
The work environment involves traveling to different sites daily to provide coverage, primarily working in office phlebotomist settings inside doctor's offices, alongside medical assistants and providers. Occasionally, coverage will be needed at Patient Service Centers, which are walk-in clinics for blood draws. On average, phlebotomists will perform 30 or fewer blood draws per day. While traveling to only one site per day, mileage is compensated, and travel time is paid. The team fosters a supportive, family-like atmosphere, and yearly merit-based performance reviews are conducted.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $23.00/hr.
