Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to program machine controllers to meet customer specifications, ensuring safety and operational efficiency while minimizing engineering time. The role involves working with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs to design component layouts, encompassing pneumatics, hydraulics, coolant, and lubrication systems. The designs should be safe, reliable, and simple, adhering to all applicable specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Review control designs with Mechanical Project Engineer and Coordinators prior to the build.
+ Obtain quotations for electrical control enclosures and push button stations during control design submission for customer approval.
+ Evaluate design capabilities and provide accurate information and support documentation to ensure timely designs that meet customer specifications.
+ Collaborate efficiently with shop personnel for the machine build, startup, debug, and run-off.
+ Provide necessary support for service and training personnel during machine startup at the customer's plant.
+ Ensure machine safety compliance with US and Canadian standards.
+ Commission machines on the floor.
+ Assist in creating standards for team members alongside existing controls engineers.
Essential Skills
+ Design experience, including circuit design (pneumatic, hydraulic, or fluid) using E-Plan.
+ CNC and PLC programming experience.
+ Proficiency in Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC programming.
+ Experience programming machine tools equipment from the ground up.
+ Proficiency in programming HMIs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ Familiarity with Fanuc robots and electrical design engineering.
+ Experience in automation and electrical design.
Work Environment
The organization manufactures crankshaft polishing machines for the automotive industry, operating as a Tier 1 supplier to major engine lines. The engineering team, comprising controls and mechanical engineers and coordinators, work on exciting R&D projects and multi-million dollar machines. The team prioritizes work-life balance and offers opportunities for growth. Overtime is paid for hours worked over 40, with an average work week of 45 hours. Optional travel is compensated with a 15% increase.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lansing, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
