    Job Title: Diesel Mechanic $25-40/hr

    Job Description

    As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles, especially those used in waste collection. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

    Responsibilities

    + Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on waste collection vehicles.

    + Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.

    + Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems.

    + Document repairs, parts usage, and repair times using fleet maintenance software.

    + Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine systems.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and repair various vehicle systems.

    + Problem-solving skills to diagnose and solve mechanical and electrical issues.

    + Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.

    + Effective communication skills with drivers and other mechanics.

    + Ability to use fleet maintenance software.

    + High school diploma or equivalent and formal training in diesel mechanics or a related field.

    + 2 plus years of experience as a diesel mechanic.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 2 plus years of experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.

    + 2 plus years of experience in electronics diagnostics.

    + Experience with oil and filter changes, electrical, brake, transmission, and engine repair.

    + MACK experience is a plus.

    Work Environment

     

    This position is based in an in-shop work environment, with core hours from 8:30 am to 7 pm, and occasional Saturdays may be scheduled.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
