Job Title: Test Engineer
Job Description
A Test Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems qualification testing for engineering products and designs. This role involves tailoring various test documents, such as plans and procedures for environmental, EMI, and shock test events, to meet specific customer and mission requirements. The Test Engineer executes test activities in a controlled environment with certified instrumentation and authors technical documentation throughout each stage of activity. Additionally, they respond to comments and questions from customers regarding test documentation or processes and guide design improvements. Higher-level Test Engineers influence testing strategy, mentor team members, and foster cross-functional collaboration from initial program phases through final certification.
Responsibilities
+ Develop customer-tailored test qualification procedures to align with specific military standards and mission profiles.
+ Design specific instrumentation requirements for testing and setup fixtures for accurate, repeatable, and reliable testing.
+ Execute qualification testing in controlled environments such as vibration, EMI/EMC, and environmental test chambers.
+ Perform test data logging, in-depth analysis, and after-action reporting while providing informed actionable suggestions.
+ Conduct on-the-spot troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for issues occurring before, during, and after test events.
+ Train and mentor peers, occasionally leading testing efforts and setting up test cases.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with electrical testing, test equipment, test procedures, and test plans.
+ Proficiency in power testing and the use of oscilloscopes.
+ Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC testing and server racks.
+ Strong skills in electrical and power testing, validation, hardware, and electrical engineering.
+ Familiarity with Python programming.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 5-15 years of experience in a relevant field.
+ Open to candidates with a mechanical or electrical skills.
+ Prior test experience is preferred but not mandatory.
+ Ability to train others and lead testing efforts.
Work Environment
The work environment is engineering-focused and involves high technology projects related to defense and naval applications. Testing is conducted in controlled environments with a focus on accurate, repeatable, and reliable results.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Burnsville, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $46.00/hr.
