    General Summary:** **JBS Tannery team is seeking an Assistant Safety Supervisor to monitor all safety aspects and offer general HR support. This role is based at our Tannery Facility in Cactus, TX. The Assistant Manager will be part of a team of about 180 employees located in Cactus ,Texas and be able to assist a 24/7 leather production facility. The ideal candidate will be very detail oriented and thrive on supporting a busy, fast-paced team. This role offers excellent growth potential!

     

    The Tannery Assistant Safety Manager is responsible for Company Safety Programs and Osha Compliance as well as LWG audit compliance. This person is responsible for the Safety Training Program and is heavily involved in Tannery Employee Orientation. Routine inspections in the plant are expected and interaction with all levels of Employees and Management is necessary. Applicants should be qualified to train OSHA 501 and should be 24 hr. hazmat certified. A minimum of 2 years industrial safety experience is required. Alternately, experience in Industrial Management may be considered if the other requirements are met.

    Responsibilities:

    + Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures

    + Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes

    + Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment

    + Heavily involved in all work compensation related items

    + Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents

    + All other duties assigned by the Plant or Human Resource Manager

    + Work in a fast pace environment

    + Able to work at least 45+ hours a week

    + Must be able to perform General HR managerial functions

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    + High school Diploma

    + Associates/Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred but not required

    + Minimum of 2 years’ experience needed

    + Must be able to work with several different computer systems

    + Must be a highly effective communicator**

    + Must be able to Travel as needed

    + Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

    + As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

    The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following **compensation and benefits** :

    + **Benefits** : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

    + **Paid Time Off** : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

    + **401(k):** company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

    + **Base salary** : range of **$72,000 to $78,000**

    + **Incentive Pay:** This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
