    Job Descriptions:

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) is the only global trade association that represents the interests of credit unions and financial cooperatives at the international level. Our membership consists of more than 90 national and regional credit union associations on six continents, as well as industry partners who support our work. The Director of Communications position is primarily responsible for the tactical and strategic management of all trade association communications, as well as the development/editing of all digital content for the organization. In this role, the Director of Communications will:

     

    + Develop/maintain the corporate communications strategy, balancing the needs of trade association members and other stakeholders both within and external to the organization.

    + Expand the awareness and influence of World Council of Credit Unions and its global membership of regional and national credit union associations and industry partners through both trade and traditional media outlets.

    + Lead the development and production of World Council’s digital content, including:

    + news releases.

    + website content.

    + a monthly email newsletter.

    + trade press articles.

    + webinars and other virtual events.

    + yearly publications (Annual Report, Impact Report).

    + annual events (World Credit Union Conference, International Credit Union Day).

    + video and audio work as assigned (image videos, podcast).

    + Management of the annual WOCCU Digital Growth Award program.

    + Establish and manage the brand identity of World Council of Credit Unions and its annual World Credit Union Conference.

    + Per delegation of the CEO, serve as a public face/voice of World Council with members, media and the public.

    + Coordinate communications/marketing efforts with Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions’, our strategic partner and fundraising arm, as needed.

     

    This position also provides empowerment, cross channel synergy, bandwidth management and quality control of corporate communications to maintain cohesive branding and messaging, while at the same time expanding a more proactive and aggressive footprint in the credit union sector.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In accordance with the corporate communication strategy, this position will be either directly responsible for (or coordinate with internal departments) the following:

    Corporate Digital Presence

    + Responsible for the overall quality and cohesive feel of the company website, woccu.org, and oversee the process for regular updates to the website, including both corporate-wide content and updates for various World Council departments including, but not limited to, International Advocacy and Member Services.

    + Provide internal departments with direction and/or a roadmap for their digital presence in alignment with the corporate communications strategy.

    + Work with a third-party vendor to develop content for and coordinate the management of World Council’s digital brand across identified multi-media platforms, including all relevant social media sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) blogs and subsites.

    + Analyze KPI’s using multiple data sources, including Critical Mention for news media and social media tracking, and Google Analytics for web content. Provide reports to senior management on those KPIs and develop recommendations regarding opportunities for continued enhancements.

    + Manage the corporate database of photos and video along with any required releases to be able to use the media.

    + Work to grow WOCCU’s virtual platform to push relevance of membership through advocacy, engagement and knowledge-sharing (education).

     

    Written / Print Communications.

     

    + Write and/or edit blog posts, news releases, newsletters and trade press articles.

    + Write leadership pieces and speeches for CEO.

    + Secure and expand coverage in national and international trade publications and in the online publications of our member organizations and U.S. credit union leagues.

    + Develop, write and manage the production of:

    + WOCCU’s Annual Report and Member Impact Report to demonstrate our yearly achievements in terms of strategic industry focused leadership, the benefits of membership and the impact of our international advocacy efforts.

    + Work with Member Services on the publication of the annual Statistical Report.

    + Lead department-specific editorial meetings to coordinate staff communication needs and timing.

    Online Awareness of International Advocacy and Member Services

    + Provide specific support to the International Advocacy and Member Services departments, assisting in the creation of press releases, thought leadership pieces, reports, white papers, blogs and other types of communication to be distributed to external stakeholders.

    + Showcase the ways our International Advocacy team is advocating on behalf of credit unions in front of international financial standard setting bodies, such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Financial Action Task Force and several others.

    + Highlight the ways our Director of Member Services provides value to our members through engagement visits, coordinating and maintaining regional membership group meetings and connecting members from across the globe to develop solutions to shared credit union problems.

    + Showcase our World Credit Union Conference through promotion and thorough coverage of the annual event held each July.

     

    Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Database.

     

    + Lead the cross-departmental CRM team and oversee standards for the database and its usage as a relationship management and marketing tool.

    + Act as a resource for other staff within the organization using the CRM.

     

    Video and Graphic Design Support.

     

    + Assist internal departments with development of multi-media presentations.

    + Manage the relationship with video and graphic design consultants, providing content, editing and art direction, for logos, corporate collateral, reports, infographics, etc.

    + Maintain World Council’s corporate PowerPoint templates and provide support as needed to staff using the templates.

    Public- and member-facing engagement

    + Host WOCCU webinars and other online virtual events.

    + Host/emcee in-person events when requested.

    + Give presentations about World Council to member organizations, trade groups and press organizations.

    + Give interviews to press organizations about World Council events, activities, and engagements per the direction of the CEO.

    Publications Inventory

    + On a periodic basis, review all publications produced and provide recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team for changes to better align with the corporate communications strategy and needs of World Council’s stakeholders.

    + Manage print publications inventory and the online and electronic distribution of corporate publications.

    + Other Duties.

    + Respond to external based corporate information requests and coordinate information requests assigned to other departments.

    Flexible Spending Account (FSA) – Pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare or dependent care costs. The contribution limit is determined by the IRS and updated every year.

     

    Dental –Delta Dental provides preventative, basic, major, and orthodontia (19 years and under) dental care services.

     

    Vision Care – VSP covers vision expenses for exams, frames, standard lenses, and contact lenses.

     

    Prescription Drug Coverage – Covers eligible prescription drug expenses at retail or mail-order pharmacies (included with selected medical coverage).

     

    Domestic Partner Coverage – Domestic partners are covered under WOCCU health plans.

    Disability and Life Insurance

    Short-term Disability (STD) –Offers income replacement of 60% up to $1,500 per week for a maximum benefit period of 9 weeks. This benefit will begin after 0 days if you become disabled due to injury and after 7 days if you become disabled due to an illness.

     

    Long-term Disability (LTD) –Offers income replacement of 60% up to $10,000 per month.

     

    Group Life and AD&D Insurance – WOCCU provides a replacement for loss of income in the event of an employee's untimely death in the amount of two times the employee's salary up to a maximum of $350,000.

     

    Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance –WOCCU employees can elect additional life and AD&D insurance plans based on their family’s needs.

    Paid Time Off

    Sick Leave – Eligible employees will accrue sick leave benefits at the rate of 12 days per year (1 day for every full month of service). Part-time employees accrue sick leave at a prorated rate.

     

    Vacation Leave – Vacation time begins at the commencement of employment and accrues in proportional increments per pay period throughout the calendar year. Vacation accrual is based on years of service.

     

    Paid Holidays – WOCCU offers 11 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday that can be used at the employee's discretion.
