We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer who is searching to do what they'll love - creating work which excites consumers! Do you have experience creating packaging designs (labels, boxes, bags, bottles and cans) for retail products? Do you love food? If so, read on! We may have the role of a lifetime for you!

     

    Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified candidate has at least 2 years of graphic design experience and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent is strongly preferred. This is estimated to be a 6-month temporary assignment based out of our Boston, MA office, with a requirement to work onsite five days per week.

    The Graphic Designer is responsible for:

    + Designing 3-D Trader Joe’s product packaging and 2-D labels.

    + Incorporating hand-drawn artwork, clip-art, photography and type to develop packaging that correctly positions products within their category and resonates with our customers.

    + Using Trader Joe’s Design Philosophy to guide creative process.

    + Working with the Art Director and/or Creative Director to create national line looks for select categories.

    + Working with Product Developers and/or Category Managers to produce creative briefs.

    + Balancing large project volume while meeting tight deadlines.

    + Managing packaging projects in myArtwork system.

    + Participating in meetings and critiques.

    + Staying current with design trends.

    + Evaluating color proofs, scans, and troubleshooting potential printing issues.

    + Promoting the Trader Joe's company culture by encouraging open communication and teamwork with fellow Crew Members.

    The Graphic Designer has:

    + 2-3 years of graphic design experience in a studio setting (preferably in packaging).

    + Demonstrated strength in creative thought and visual problem solving.

    + Fluency in Adobe CS6 (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).

    + Thorough understanding of print production processes (process color, flexography, etc.).

    + Expert skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).
