Position Summary: The Associate HR Director – International Benefits drives the employee benefits strategy for Lilly’s European hubs as well as our Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico affiliates to enable recruitment and retention of teammates who are determined to make life better for people around the world. This role partners with business leaders, finance and human resources colleagues, and market experts to design compliant, affordable, and meaningful employee benefits programs to support the overall well-being of our teammates and their families. Additionally, the Associate HR Director – International Benefits will lead Lilly’s Global Benefits Management (GBM) Program as well as benefit offerings insured through Lilly’s Global Insurance Captive. As our business and the world around us evolve, this role is tasked with external engagement to ensure we are constantly bringing innovation to advance our position as an employer of choice.
Responsibilities:
+ Accelerate Lilly’s international employee benefits capabilities in collaboration with Lilly enterprise partners.
+ Work with business leaders, HR business partners, compensation, finance, talent mobility, procurement, and legal to build competitive, compliant, and meaningful benefits programs for our global workforce.
+ Drive employee benefit program strategy and design within Lilly’s European hubs as well as our Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico affiliates.
+ Provide education on Lilly’s strategy, design principles, and governance.
+ Build a broad and diverse external network and leverage these insights to shape forward-thinking in the context of employee benefits.
+ Gather insights to inform program design.
+ Maintain up-to-date market insights for program design, regulatory and legislative changes, and emerging trends.
+ Lead annual benchmarking surveys.
+ Partner with local HR business partners to understand the voice of the employee.
+ Lead and grow our capability through strong external partnerships with Lilly’s global broker, captive insurance manager, and market experts.
+ Provide oversight to ensure effective service delivery and appropriately triage escalated issues.
+ Lead efforts to support company-sponsored initiatives including acquisitions, divestitures, new site start-ups, and reorganizations.
+ Seek opportunities to simplify, leverage technology, and seek efficiency through global economies of scale.
+ Ensure a culture of compliance such that our work, and that of our external partners, is always reflective of the Lilly core values of integrity, excellence, and respect for people as well as Lilly’s internal policies.
Basic Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 5 years of experience in employee benefits, finance, or related field
+ Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
Additional Preferences:
+ Knowledge of HR and employee benefits practices in Europe, Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico
+ Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with employees and senior leaders across various cultures

+ Experience in managing third-party relationships

+ Proficient with data tools and analytics
Additional Information:
+ Ability to balance work hours to support Europe, Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico
+ Ability to travel internationally as needed (infrequent)

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$127,500 - $187,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
