    **Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD)** has an immediate opening for a **Pricing & Rates Coordinator or Project Lead** located at **Columbus General Office** in **Columbus** , Nebraska. Position will remain open until filled. Application review will start on October 21.

     

    This position will report to the Pricing and Rates Manager.

    Position Summary

    Pricing & Rates Coordinator

     

    The incumbent is accountable for working independently with limited supervision to provide overall technical development, thorough analysis and project coordination of various pricing and rates projects. This includes taking a coordination role in the wholesale and retail embedded cost of service rate studies and the formula rate template for establishing transmission rates in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). The incumbent is also accountable for coordinating intra-company teams as required to complete rate-related projects.

     

    Pricing & Rates Project Lead

     

    The incumbent provides overall technical creation, project management, project team leadership, and strategic leadership of pricing and rates projects. This specifically means taking a leadership role in projects related to NPPD’s wholesale and retail cost of service/rate studies, formula rate template for establishing transmission rates in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), scenario planning/analysis, and research and development of new rates and rate methodologies. It includes a project and strategic leadership role in developing pricing products in both regulatory and competitive markets.

     

    Education, Training and Experience

     

    Pricing & Rates Coordinator

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Engineering or related field required.

     

    Three (3) years of professional level experience in utility rates and pricing, utility billing, cost of service, rate design, revenue requirement determination, and/or competitive pricing.

     

    Pricing & Rates Project Lead

     

    Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Engineering, or related field required. Master’s degree in related area is preferred but not required.

     

    Eight (8) years of professional level experience in utility rates and pricing, including cost of service, rate design, revenue requirement determination, and/or competitive pricing.

     

    Demonstrated professional-level analysis skills in a quantitative field such as rates, accounting, finance or engineering. Previous rate-making experience is preferred.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     

    Pricing & Rates Coordinator

     

    Provide technical development, project coordination, and completion of various wholesale and retail embedded cost of service rate studies and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) formula rate template, including determination of revenue requirements, cost allocations and rate design.

     

    Develop, create and provide analysis for existing and new wholesale and retail pricing products and rate studies based on regulatory and contractual requirements.

     

    Provide assistance in interpreting rate schedules and policies and perform rate estimates and analyses for wholesale and retail customers and NPPD colleagues (Account Managers, Economic Development, Billing, Customer Services, etc.).

     

    Collect, monitor, interpret and analyze data from SPP, accounting records, market research, load research, industry data and energy market data for use in pricing and rate projects.

     

    Coordinate intra-company teams as required to complete rate-related projects. Provide rate training to NPPD colleagues as requested.

     

    Assume leadership role in special projects and in the design of new rate products and services.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Continued)

     

    Pricing and Rates Project Lead

     

    Provide technical development and strategic leadership on pricing and rates projects, including the management and preparation of NPPD’s General Firm Power Service (GFPS), Transmission (T-2) Rate Studies, SPP Annual Update and True-Up, Subtransmission Rate Study, and Retail Cost of Service

     

    Identify and develop scenarios and impact analyses of, or propose revisions to, the SPP rate template related to SPP tariff language changes and/or new Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) orders. Coordinate the completion of the monthly SPP transmission shadow settlement process and lead the rate outlook planning process for transmission wheeling revenues and SPP revenues and expenses.

     

    Provide complete management and team leadership on pricing and rates related projects. Take a leadership role in dealing with customers and the organization in pricing issues including the use of customer generation and provide technical leadership on competitive and regulatory pricing issues.

     

    Develop, create, and provide analysis for existing and new pricing products based on embedded and market-based principals and in compliance with wholesale power contract and retail operation agreement requirements.

     

    Collect, monitor, interpret, and analyze data from the SPP, accounting records, market research, load research, industry data, and resource and energy markets for use in wholesale and retail rate analyses.

     

    Develop, create, and provide assistance on pricing issues to wholesale customers, retail customers, and NPPD employees including interpreting pricing schedules and performing pricing analyses.

     

    Make professional presentations on pricing issues to customers, employees, executives, and others in the industry. Provide rate training as requested.

    **Salary Information** _-_ Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

    **Pay Grade -** 14 Monthly

    **Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:** $7,979.00 - $10,173.00

    **Pay Grade -** 15Monthly

    **Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:** $9,155.00 - $12,512.00

    **Travel Required:** Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) _Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview._

    Retirement Savings

     

    NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
