Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education - Federal Programs is recruiting for a Legal Analyst Specialist. Under limited supervision, this position provides analysis and/or recommendations on statute and regulations within the scope and authority of the agency's implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state special education requirements. Duties include but are not limited to:
Job Responsibilities
+ Develop, oversee, and implement administrative processes designed to maintain and monitor the compliance of department processes.
+ Conduct research and provide technical assistance on special education related issues.
+ Developing and reviewing memoranda, reports, presentation materials, and analyzing data across the division.
+ Provide services such as writing guidance and drafting new or amended board rules or internal procedures.
+ Research and analyze current statutes and regulations related to special education.
+ Other duties as assigned

+ Strong knowledge of IDEA law and compliance
**This is a remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Statewide travel is required.

Juris Doctorate in a related area from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and three (3) years of relevant legal experience; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 3 (LEP022).
