Salary:25 - 35 USD / HOUR
Position: Field Service Technician II
Hourly rate: $25.00 - $35.00/hr. OT after 8 hours of travel and work time, double time after 10 hours each day. Saturday work 0-10 hours is paid at time and a half and Sunday work is double time. All travel is also paid.
Travel: Position is road/client based, most travel is within home territory; however technicians may be called to support other teams/clients as needed. Technicians are allowed to book work-related flights and rooms directly for reimbursement so they can collect points.
Advancement & Training Opportunities: Yes, after one year of satisfactory service, technicians may be eligible for additional training opportunities such as PLC, FANUC, panel automated shelving, additional electrical and leadership training etc. Internal employees are also eligible for promotions and advancement.
Education: HSD/GED or equivalent is required, vocational or technical school degree is preferred
Experience: Minimum 5 years of troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment and 2 years of troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment is required; flexibility to travel and work when customers need assistance is required this may include some overnights and weekends, as required. Must be able to communicate with customers and management in both written and verbal form. Must be able to stand/bend for up to 8 hours and lift-up to 50lbs to shoulder height.
Position Summary:
As a Field Service Technician II at Adaptec Solutions, you’ll be the go-to expert keeping our customers’ automation and material handling systems running at peak performance. This role is hands-on, working directly with conveyors, sorters, motors, gearboxes, lifts, hoists, and other critical equipment found in high-volume warehouses and manufacturing environments. You’ll take ownership of installations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency service calls - often solving problems independently while knowing when to loop in leadership or escalate for support.

One day you may be wiring a control panel or testing 480V systems, the next you could be fabricating, welding, or rigging to get machinery back online. Responsibilities:
+ Perform installations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical material handling equipment, including but not limited to: conveyor belts, sortation systems, transfers, diverters, merges, and accumulation systems, including 480V electrical systems, motors, contacts, 3-ways, gearboxes, motors, drives, couplings, lift tables, hoists, and cranes dock equipment and material lifts, control panels and electrical enclosures, bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, and rollers with minimal support from Lead technician
+ Respond to emergency calls within territory, as needed on a 24/7 basis; occasional but rare travel outside of home territory may be required to support other teams.(Travel time is always compensated)
+ Perform mechanical work including fabricating, stick welding, and painting.
+ Carry out maintenance on machinery at client sites as scheduled
+ Use a multi-meter to check fuses, troubleshoot contactors, verify power, troubleshoot 3-phase motors
+ Appropriately document all work performed in E-360 reporting system (i.e., Field Service Reports / inspection and audit forms)
+ Communicate machine issues, status, repair needs/timelines effectively with clients and leadership in both written and verbal communications
+ Work within the safety guidelines of customers, Adaptec Solutions and OSHA; always operating by the most stringent safety protocol.
+ Work independently and conscientiously to complete a job, know when to escalate questions or concerns to leadership or the client.
+ May also advise client on additional needs
+ Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
+ HSD/GED or equivalent is required, vocational or technical school degree is preferred
+ Strong electro-mechanical reasoning ability is required
+ 5 years of troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment and 2 years of troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment is required
+ Rigger, Millwright, Machine Builder experience is also acceptable
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to material handling equipment
+ Ability to use hand tools, measurement instruments (such as indicators, calipers, micrometers, tape measure, scales, etc.), power tools to include drills, grinders, welders, impact wrenches and more. Use/operation of heavy equipment such as forklifts, aerial and scissor lifts is required on some jobs
+ Must possess a foundational understanding of MIG/TIG/Stick welding
+ Must have valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and ability to comply with DOT regulations.
+ Must be able to pass DOT physical.
+ Must be able to attend emergency calls as needed, this may require overnight travel for field service work, preventative maintenance visits, equipment installation and troubleshooting (all travel is paid time)
+ May be required to travel outside of home territory to assist other teams and customers as needed.
+ Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with the customer and managers
+ Must have basic hand tools (Adaptec will provide additional tools)
+ Must have computer skills, experience turning in field service reports is strongly preferred
+ Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
