Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a **Supplier Quality Engineer** to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in **San Diego, CA.** This Supplier Quality Engineer will manage supplier quality performance in the execution of programs for the NIC Division.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.
What You'll Get to do::
+ Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections per (AS9102 or equivalent) and Source inspections.
+ Participates in site Preventive Corrective Action Boards (PCABs), Program reviews, and Customer meetings as the Supplier Quality (SQ) representative.
+ Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
+ Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
+ Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable.
+ Review Purchase Requisition and Purchase Orders for quality Notes flow-down to supplier Work with key suppliers to ensure they are performing well and their capacity and capability are adequate to deliver products to specifications and on time Perform Supplier performance management by analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
+ Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
+ Perform or facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) for Quality Management System (QMS) non-compliance.
+ Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
+ Develop Supplier Quality support estimates for Proposals or any other support requirements associated with SQ activities.
+ Familiarity with Cost and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) requirements/analysis.
+ May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
+ May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies. Working knowledge of SAP also required.
+ Preventing/Minimizing business impact from supplied material defects; supplier quality risk mitigation.
+ Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims.
+ Strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports.
+ Be able to analyze and present data to Director Level Management.
+ Collaborate and foster positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Quality Engineer:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 8 years (6+ years with a Master's Degree) of Quality experience
+ Experience working with electrical and mechanical manufacturing and design requirements and specifications (IPC, J-STD, MIL-STD).
+ Experience with interpreting and presenting quality metrics.
+ Experience with processing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
+ Experience with conducting AS9100 audits (standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry)
+ SAP Business Systems experience
+ DOD Secret Clearance.
+ US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Materials, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
+ Experience in special processes for electrical and mechanical manufacturing
+ Solumina Manufacturing Execution System experience
+ Possess current DOD Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
