The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructors to provide academic instruction to youth in secure care facilities. This role is vital to supporting the educational development and rehabilitation of justice-involved youth. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment, promoting academic achievement, and helping students build the skills they need for successful reintegration into their communities.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field.
+ Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with appropriate ELA content area certification (Grades 6-12).
+ Secondary English (Grades 6-12) or English Language Arts (Grades 4-8) for middle grades.
+ Passed Praxis II content exam for ELA.
+ Strong classroom management and instructional skills
+ Ability to work effectively with at-risk youth in a secure care setting
+ Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Job Specification
The incumbent will work 7.5 hours per work day.
Job Duties and Other Information
The incumbent of this position will teach or instruct classes of secured care juveniles in the state mandated curriculum, behavioral principles and instructional practices, including classroom management based on positive reinforcement; maintain personal qualities of leadership, integrity, fairness, optimism, self-confidence, persistence and vitality.
Duties/Examples of Work include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
+ Deliver instruction in core academic subjects (e.g., English, Math, Science, Social Studies) aligned with Louisiana Department of Education standards
+ Organize environment and instruction to facilitate learning; write lesson plans for individual and group inetruction
+ Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on student needs and learning levels
+ Maintain classroom discipline and promote a safe, respectful learning environment
+ Serves as an acceptable model for student in grooming, dress and conduct.
+ Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records
+ Collaborate with facility staff, counselors, and education coordinators to support student success
+ Integrate life skills, career readiness, and character education into daily instruction
+ Participate in professional development and training sessions
