    The mission of Southern University and A&M College, an Historically Black, 1890 land-grant institution, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is to provide a student-focused teaching and learning environment that creates global leadership opportunities for a diverse student population where teaching, research, service, scholarly and creative expectations for students and faculty are achieved through the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs offered at the institution via different instructional modalities and via public service.

     

    Southern University and A&M College is looking for a Police Officer 2 to protect the lives and property through active foot and mobile security patrols. This position must provide first aid and emergency services, enforce parking and traffic regulations, provide crowd control at special events and prevents interference with normal operations and directs traffic.

    Minimum Qualifications

    One year of law enforcement experience.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

     

    Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.

     

    An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Protects lives and property through active foot patrols and mobile patrols, enforcing laws, and investigating crimes.

    + Provides first aid and emergency services.

    + Investigates accidents, enforces parking and traffic regulations, and campus regulations.

    + Conducts crime prevention and security programs, guard service, and directs traffic.

    + Maintains logs of radio, telephone, and teletype activities and monitors alarm systems and other police radio frequencies.

    + Operates police network computers and dispatches police officers in response to calls when necessary.

    Compensation: THERE IS A SPECIAL ENTRANCE RATE OF $19.88/HOURLY FOR THE POLICE OFFICER 2
