    As a*Staff Planning Engineer*, you will perform all aspects of planning and economics optimization, as well as identify opportunities for overall refinery optimization.

    * Work with the refinery and economics engineering to develop the monthly plan to insure system, refinery, and individual unit optimization.

    * Act as a focal point for daily communication between Operations, Engineering, and Planning/scheduling groups within the refinery.

    * Perform crude and feedstock evaluations; assists in developing schedules, and balances.

    * Perform unit optimization studies and relating optimum operating targets to operations on a routine basis.

    * Identify process constraints and identifies opportunities to relieve these constraints.

    * Evaluate the economic contribution of Capital Program project proposals.

    * Participate in the post production review process to continually improve the accuracy of the monthly plan.

    * Provide back-up coverage and support for the other planning roles.

    * Work on special projects as required.

    * Identify profit improvement opportunities.

    * Participate in the development of the budget and strategic plan.

     

    This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

    Qualifications:

    *Minimum Requirements:*

    * Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.

    * 8 years refining industry experience, including five years process engineering experience is required.

    * Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

    *Preferred Requirements: *

    * Previous economics and planning experience in a multi-plant system is preferred.
