Job Description

The General Mechanic performs maintenance and repairs for mechanical equipment at CMI’s customer site in Washington, DC.

Key Job Functions

+ Repair or replace parts as needed to maintain buildings, equipment, and furnishings in all aspects of facility maintenance. This includes being able to work with various types of materials: woods, plastics, paints, glass, sheet metals, PVC products, greases, oils, etc.

+ Perform minor maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, removing, relocating, and/or installing building furnishings (i.e. pictures, towel dispensers, shelving, etc.) in order to complete task.

+ Perform routine preventative maintenance on building equipment/furnishings in accordance with the manufacturer’s operation manuals.

+ Determine required materials and supplies relating to preventive maintenance, repair orders, and projects to complete each task.

+ Perform duties from elevated equipment to include ladders (step or extension), telescoping or scissor lifts, scaffolding and platforms.

+ Move and arrange heavy office furniture, equipment or supplies as needed.

+ Assist in any other related functions under the direction of immediate supervisor

Qualifications

+ High School Degree or Equivalent

+ Must be able to work with little to no direct supervision

+ Have knowledge of and utilize hand tools, small power tools and man lift equipment to complete task.

+ Properly maintain, clean, and care for tools and equipment as well as maintaining a clean work area.
