We have an immediate career opportunity for a **Sr. Business Analyst I.** The **Sr.** **Business Analyst I** will serve as a key link between operations, trade compliance, customs brokerage, finance, and IT teams. This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving the end-to-end clearance processes and systems to ensure compliant, efficient, cost-effective, and timely import/export of shipments. The ideal candidate will use data to identify opportunities, drive improvements, and provide strategic insight to support DHL’s global supply chain and regulatory compliance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Performs analytical work to support the various business needs of assigned DHL teams
+ Prepare analysis, reporting, and insights to support **Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)** , ensuring leadership has clear visibility into clearance performance, cost impacts, compliance trends, and opportunities for process optimization. Partner with business leaders to present findings and recommend data-driven actions.
+ Develop, maintain, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for clearance functions: e.g. clearance time, duty/tax forecasting, non-compliance rates, cost per shipment, delays, etc.
+ Partner with Compliance, Customs, Trade Policy, and Operations to ensure DHL meets all applicable laws, regulations, HTS classifications, tariff codes, valuation rules, bond requirements, and documentation standards.
+ Manage data sources: collect, clean, reconcile data from internal systems (WMS, ERP, Trade Management Systems, Customs Broker data) and external sources; build dashboards and reporting tools for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
+ Lead or participate in projects to optimize clearance (e.g., trade facilitation programs, duty drawback, free trade agreement utilization, special customs regimes).
+ Serve as subject matter expert for clearance queries, audits, and risk assessments. Provide guidance and training for operational staff on best practices, regulatory changes, process compliance.
+ Support continuous improvement: root cause analysis of delays or cost overruns, design and implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
+ Handles new requests and changes to existing reports
+ Work closely with CVG Gateway Management to gauge potential risk related to performance, and design, implement and monitor improvement plans to enhance overall department performance
+ Reviews standards for reporting, and establishes commitments and standard operating agreements to ensure a consistent execution
+ Provides expert support for projects, programs and implementations
+ Independently performs assignments to achieve stated objective. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues
+ May be responsible for entire projects or functions having modest scope/impact or portions of projects having considerable scope/impact to department, area, and, at times, business unit results
+ Participate and contribute in cross-departmental collaboration to identify areas for service improvement covering processes or controls and recommend specific GW-related improvement actions
+ Prepare monthly summary reports and build databases as required for the GW department
+ Analyze service incidents and failures to surface trends in service gaps and process weaknesses in the Clearance areas and/or other interfacing functional departments in the clearance process
Skills & Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a related capacity, preferably with hands-on experience in Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Management System Snowflake SQL
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Data Analytics, Finance, or similar field (or equivalent experience).
+ Strong analytical skills with proven experience using data to drive decisions; comfortable working with large datasets.
+ Proficiency in data tools: SQL, Excel (advanced), BI tools (Power BI, T Microsoft Power BI, Management System Snowflake).
+ Experience interfacing with systems / tools used for customs / trade (customs brokerage platforms, trade management systems, ERP integrations).
+ Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to translate technical / regulatory concepts to non-specialist stakeholders.
+ Strong project management skills: ability to lead initiatives cross-functionally, manage timelines, coordinate with multiple teams.
+ Attention to detail, high integrity, ability to manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance under pressure.
+ Business stakeholder satisfaction (Operations / Finance / Compliance) regarding clarity, speed, and predictability of clearance processes.
