Description of Work Unit

Warner College of Natural Resources is one of the largest and most comprehensive natural resource colleges in the nation. Position Summary
WCNR Business Services includes human resources, financial and proposal support for the college including 5 academic departments and 2 large research units. This includes all salary, payroll, travel, purchasing, sponsored research pre/post award and account reconciliations for over 800 accounts and approximately 1,500 employees. The Human Resources (HR) Generalist serves as a primary HR contact for staff, supervisors and leadership, providing essential HR services and support. This role is responsible for understanding HR practices and policies for Warner College of Natural Resources ( WCNR ) and Colorado State University ( CSU ). Key responsibilities include talent acquisition, onboarding, employee life cycle management, performance management, and training and development. Additionally, the HR Generalist is responsible for records management, leave administration, systems data entry, processing, tracking and maintenance of personnel information, and electronic archiving. Job duties include providing accurate and timely information and responses to HR related questions while ensuring confidentiality.
This hands-on position requires comprehensive knowledge of HR practices and policies, including federal and state laws and regulations, and the ability to interpret and implement University, Department, and College policies and practices. This position requires developing collaborative relationships to deliver HR solutions that align with WCNR’s vision and strategies, while navigating a complex, and fast-paced environment.
Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to internal customer service, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Required Job Qualifications
+ A bachelor’s degree in business management/administration, human resources, or closely related field
+ Minimum three years of experience in human resources, talent management, and/or recruiting as a primary responsibility
+ Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
+ Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with and effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences
+ Demonstrated strong ability to work collaboratively within a team, while also demonstrating initiative and the capacity to work independently
+ Demonstrated skills with prioritization of tasks, organization, and managing multiple responsibilities and projects
+ Discretion to handle sensitive and confidential information
+ Demonstrated problem-solving, sound judgment, and critical thinking skills to support informed decision-making and provide well-founded recommendations
+ The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the Unites States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in human resources, business management/administration, organizational development, or closely related field
+ Professional HR related certification such as PHR / SHRM -CP
+ Detail-oriented and highly organized with proven experience managing multiple projects and balancing competing priorities efficiently
+ Strong project management and process development skills, with the ability to lead initiatives and optimize workflows

+ Share and distribute HR-related information to relevant stakeholders.
+ Apply guidelines and process transactions related to Workers’ Compensation, Leave Without Pay, and other HR-related actions.
+ Manage employee data and generate HR-related reports and documents.
+ Create and deliver HR-related materials, including employee training sessions.
+ Serve as the team lead on assigned HR projects.
+ Evaluate HR implications of the business strategy, identify opportunities to align with business needs, and propose solutions, as directed.
