Job Description
Are you passionate about shaping best practices in highway design and becoming a go-to expert in our agency’s design manual? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We are excited to hire aDesign Technician Specialist (DT Specialist) who will be an essential member of the Methods team in the Design Bureau. You will work with members of our Method’s team focused on providing outstanding engineering solutions to transportation challenges in service to the public.

Shift Requirements: Days, Monday through Friday. Flexible work hours available.
Our most successful candidate will have a good understanding of the highway development process, experience with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act for website formatting, and experience with technical software.
In this position, you will contribute to the agency by working on a wide variety of projects, including the Design Bureau Manual, standards, details, and presentations for the Design Bureau staff:
+ Helps with the development of Standard Road Plans, typical drawings, and Design Manual Sections.
+ Lead the updating of web documents for the Design Bureau to be ADA accessible, for screen readers using Adobe software.
+ Create and update electronic files to comply with current automation standards for the Design Bureau.
+ Be a developer and point of contact for tabulations used in design plans. (tabs)
+ Present updates to the design manual

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent), and experience equal to eight years of full-time work in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, or right of way.
2) All of the following (a and b):
a. Six years of full-time work experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, or right of way; and
b. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, right of way, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection.
3) All of the following (a and b):
a. Six years of full-time work experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, or right of way; and
b. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of an accredited vocational program in engineering technology, design drafting, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, construction inspection, or cartography equals two years of full-time experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, right of way, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection.
4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Design Technician.
