Salary: $1430 / Week
The Laboratory Technician performs routine tests in a medical laboratory to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Prepares and carries out diagnostic laboratory tests
+ Operates and maintains standard lab equipment
+ Takes precise and accurate notes
+ Prepares specimens, samples, and collective methods
+ Conducts routine maintenance on lab equipment and calibration
+ Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, under the supervision of a Medical Technologist
+ Performs blood counts, using microscope
+ Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes
+ May draw blood from patient’s finger, ear lobe, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples
+ May specialize in hematology, blood bank, cytology, histology, or chemistry
+ Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
+ High School diploma or its equivalent.
+ Successful completion of Laboratory Technician training with subsequent certification as a Laboratory Technician preferred.
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
