    Summary:

    Duties will include but not limited to inspection, maintenance and repair of various NJ TRANSIT equipment, stations, general buildings & bridges along the River LINE

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Supervises in-house building maintenance forces for preventative maintenance and repair of all Southern Division Bus Operations fixed facility equipment.

    + Conducts inspections of construction work conducted by the building maintenance department of outside service vendors.

    + Maintains inventory, upgrades tools and equipment utilized by assigned in-house forces to minimize downtime and to ensure health and safety of employees.

    + Coordinates, prioritizes and assigns work orders received by Southern Division facility Superintendents.

    + Develops and initiates effective preventive maintenance programs for all facilities in Southern Division.

    + Coordinates with outside regulatory agency agencies (i.e., DCA, local fire marshals, Municipal Utility Authorities, OSHA Inspectors, etc.) to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

    + Handles the coordination of all facilities emergencies on a 24-hour, seven day a week basis in order to minimize interruptions to the operations department and the riding public.

    + Administers labor agreements. Provides effective discipline. Maintains a good working relationship with union.

    + Trains and develops an effective group of maintenance personnel. Oversees the effectiveness of subordinate managers.

    + Provides for a hazard free work place by enforcing safety and environmental programs and procedures, by implementing new programs and by properly maintaining the facility.

    This Position Supervises:

    + LRT Supervisor Facility Systems - RL

    + Foreman Facilities I - Light Rail - RL

    Education, Experience and Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Arts or related area, or equivalent

    + and seven (7) years of applied experience in building maintenance or construction of industrial facilities.

    + One year of closely related work experience can substitute for each year of education required.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    + Two (2) years’ experience in routine basic building maintenance and related support services (door hardware repair/replacement, light bulb replacement, ceiling tile repair/replacement, preparing areas for painting, painting of walls, water filter replacement, and minor carpet work. Six (6) months of hands on experience in boiler operation and maintenance.

    + Valid driver’s license required.

    + Must possess excellent problem-solving skills

    + Must be able to accept and understand industry changes, new regulations, etc. and translate that information to staff or other employees.

    + Must be knowledgeable of all NJ TRANSIT field locations and maintenance facilities.

    + Must possess excellent computer skills and knowledge of NJ TRANSIT job specific computer programs such as RAMS.

    + Must have excellent communication skills, writing skills, and excellent research abilities.

    + Must be able to work with vendors, government, and state agencies in a professional manner.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    + Licensed electrician or plumbing contractor is desirable.

    Physical Demands:

    + Lifting 50 lbs, standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, operating lifts.
