    Job Description:

    We are looking to hire a Superintendent, LRT Transportation - Riverline!

    Summary:

    Responsible for overseeing the operations and management of a light rail transit system. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient movement of passengers, coordinating schedules, monitoring train performance, and addressing any issues or disruptions that may arise. The Superintendent works closely with train operators, maintenance staff, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and reliable transportation service for the public.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Manages the LRT Control Room staff in the delivery of safe train and track car movement. Responsible for the movement and protection of workers/equipment within River LINE trackage and stations to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable and cost-effective transportation and maintenance/operational activities. Assures that LRT Operations Center staff is sufficiently qualified/trained to perform all duties.

    + Manages Operations and Depot Force to ensure service requirements are met and that work is assigned in an efficient manner to ensure safe, clean, courteous and reliable service for our customers and proper utilization of manpower.

    + Ensures on-time performance standards, maintains appropriate service levels and monitors the system’s safety and security status, coordinates the implementation of appropriate corrective action(s). Assures that proper documentation of LRT movements and M of W activities are recorded in an accurate manner for investigative and record keeping purposes. Oversees the use of Bus service in accordance with standard or emergency operating procedures to substitute and/or supplement Light Rail Transit operations.

    + Ensures a safe shared-use freight operation. Directs the movement of foreign railroad freight trains over trackage and monitors compliance with hazardous material regulations.

    + Reports and records delays resulting from equipment, bridge, signal and power failures, adverse weather conditions and any other disturbance affecting the operations of trains. Responsible for documenting and reporting daily on-time train performance, fleet status, and Rail related incidents accurately into the daily morning report.

    + Ensures adherence to the safety and operating rules and maintains corresponding policies and regulations. Initiates additions, modifications or changes to the Operating Rules and/or Standard Emergency Operating procedures. Ensures that the proper versions of Rulebooks, Procedures, Bulletins, General Orders, Notices and other documents are current and accurate. Reviews and updates standard and emergency operating procedures, safety rules, orders, etc., and implements corrective action(s), as necessary.

    + Participates in the identification, design, testing and implementation of any modification/addition/deletion to the software and/or hardware systems upon which the Transportation unit relies to conduct safe, efficient operations.

    + Manages the Transportation aspect of post-accident/incident reviews/investigations and completes a post-accident/incident report in conjunction with other incident investigation team members and Safety department personnel

    + Monitors and maintains the SCADA/Integrated Control System to good working condition. Monitors the use and status of the following SCADA systems: , Train Control and Intrusion Detection. Performs and supervises the review of video and audio recordings on a routine and as-needed basis in conjunction with normal and abnormal operations, as well as incident investigations.

    + Ensures that transportation activities are conducted in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and that union/management dealings are conducted in a fair and professional manner.

    + Asst Supt Transp - RL (2)

    Education, Experience and Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Transportation or related area from a US Department of Education accredited college or university,

    + and eight (8) years of experience in public transit operations, to include progressive managerial experience in rail transit operations, with a focus in light rail operations, which should include four (4) years of managerial experience, which must include at least two (2) years of direct supervisory responsibility of agreement personnel.

    + One year of closely related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    + Must demonstrate knowledge and experience managing Light Rail Transportation functions, with applied experience coordinating transportation priorities with the related activities of MOW and MOE.

    + Knowledge associated with railway safety & operating rules/regulations required.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    + A valid driver’s license is required.

    Working Environment:

    + Must be available to respond to incidents/accidents as needed on 24-hour basis, 7-days a week.
